Depends on your definition of "different locations." If they're in a separate part of a really big frickin' building then they're in different locations. If the buildings are adjoined...different locations. If they're built side by side.......get the idea?

Besides....what's the big deal? Who did you think was going to build the new SMS cars anyway? Were I in Steve's position I'd have all my former employees do it. They're damned good at what they do anyway.

If the address is the same they are in the same location, IMO. I just don't understand the point behind selling Saleen only to owners who screw the company up, than start up a new company and work together with "competition" and tell people you aren't, only on your 25th anniversary collaboration, when in reality they are working together on everything. I think they need to just combine Techco and SMS if that's how they are going to operate and stop telling people differently.

SMS supercharger = Techco supercharger if you look at the SMS Challenger.

So don't buy anything from either company. Could they have originally started out wanting to follow that original philosophy and then, later on, decided it was better for both companies to be on the same premises?

Or why don't you just call them up and ask them personally.

Yup......but I'm not giving it out. I've also got the numbers for a few guys from TechCo as well. Again...not happening, Slick.

I'm sure the Complaint Department number is listed. :laughlots:

Carlos from Techco just made this post on Brad Barnett in response to the similiarities between the Techco and SMS superchargers.

Carlos @ Techco said:
To clarify the SMS blower is a 2.3L Lysholm unit, not a 3.2L. They are choosing to rate the blower in an uncommon way by saying 3.2 cubic meters per minute. Positive Displacement Blowers are rated in Liters Displacement, which is the way every supercharger company rates them. The Lysholm 2.3L supercharger unit (Rotors and Housing) is not currently being used by anyone anymore. It used to be used by Whipple before they developed their own as a 2.4L unit. We last worked with the old 2.3L Lysholm Supercharger (Rotors and Housing) in 2004 on the Saleen S281E and designated it the Series V. We soon realized the limitations of the housing and created an integrated housing on the Saleen Series VI.

TECHCO was initially chosen by SMS to use our Twin Screw supercharger for a private label arrangement. However, we were never able to come to a business agreement, which is also why they are no longer in our building.

Ultimately we here at TECHCO are an Engineering Company trying to do marketing and SMS is a Marketing Company trying to do engineering. The choice in blowers is the customers. All of the engineers that developed all of the Saleen superchargers and products are a part of TECHCO. We want consumers to be informed of the facts and make their buying decisions based on facts. To mislead consumers by rating blowers incorrectly is simply a marketing magic show.

Carlos

So what does that mean? The same people who designed the SMS unit designed the Techco blower (albeit with different rotors)?

The photos of the Challenger w/ the blower on the SMS site looks like a Techco blower...there is no denying that.
