I am interested in upgrading my Roush M90 to get a little bit more oomph out of it. I have read in numerous posts that the Roush stock tune could be improved upon. I have found two viable options, which are basically the same thing from two different tuners. First is the VMP Performance VMP 500HP Package and the other is the Brenspeed Mustang GT 490 R. Both use a 2.49 supercharger pulley, new idler pulley, CAI and proprietary tune. I am leaning towards VMP as they seem to be working with Roush nowadays and may have more insight. Anyone make either of these mods? Any problems? More heat? Is the investment worth the performance return? Any and all input is appreciated.

I'd get an SCT X4, tune, and pulley from Justin, see if it's cheaper to buy his CAI or to buy my steeda for ~$100 USD plus shipping.

If your blower has the press on pulley you'll need the tool to remove and install the new 2.49 pulley. I've also got one of these laying around, but a new one probably isn't expensive.

Justin is an awesome tuner and your tune will be dead nuts on. I've read about many people not being satisfied with Brenspeed tunes and they are limited in the different options they will tune for. In other words, they have a library of canned tunes but not much ability to go beyond that. Justin wrote a tune for my buddy's Marauder while sitting around chatting after dinner one night.

And since you're new and might not be aware, I had a 2009 Bullitt with an M90 which was tuned by Justin. I eventually bought the TVS1900 from Justin and with the built motor he tuned it to 643hp on pump gas. The man has skills.

Agree, VMP for the win. That's what I've got and highly recommend.

BTW, am I the only one that has sort an odd affinity to Marauders? I love those cars!

I was in your same shoes about 3 months ago. I knew the vmp 1.9l tvs was out there but didn't want to spend the money. So I opened to buy the jdm 2.49 pulley(actually from vmp) the steeds I take and tune. That was about 900 bucks. Then 2 weeks ago I bought the vmp 1.9 kit. The wife told me to buy the vmp kit (1.9)and be done with it back then and I didn't listen. Do the tvs upgrade and be done with it.

Nope, definitely not the only one. The full frame RWD V8 cars are probably gone forever. But Marauders and Panthers in general are on the list of cars I would own. A 2v turbo Grand Marquis would surprise some people.

I would love the 1.9 TVS upgrade, but it is a matter of cost. I could bump up with the pulley, CAI and tune for about $900. The TVS would run $2500, plus throttle body upgrade, plus fuel system upgrade, and new plugs, just off the top of my head. I am at $3500. I love my 2006, but as we get that pricey, I start thinking about a Coyote powered 2011 with a new Roush TVS. The old pay once cry once principle would yield significantly more in that scenario. I am trying to keep things reasonable and not get kicked out of the house.

Save for the 1900 or do nothing at all, IMO.

I had a 2.49 M90 car and wasn't happy. Only great thing about it was the whine. Slow as hell otherwise. Literally got DESTROYED by a friend in his light bolt on & tune 5.0.

Ended up in 14 5.0 which I threw a Paxton on and ended up at over 750 HP at the crank lol. Turning sideways at 60mph... Weeee.

I sold the car though lol. Miss it every day. But I'm joining the military as a part of higher education/getting out of manufacturing careers so I had to drop debt for the initial 32k/year reduction in income.

Get the 1.9 so you can beat bolt on 5.0s, IMO
