For those so interested.........................

I had recently found some brochure materials on the 08 Ford Mustang FR500S Factory Race Cars (non-VIN cars......not EPA street legal.....) along w\ a replacement parts list & an actual factory Ford sales sticker & while looking thru all this, it struck me that I've inadvertently equipped my 09 GT Glass Roof w\ a fair amount of these parts that were used on\with this factory race car as follows:

Ford Racing Parts I have currently installed........also used on\with the '08 FR500S:

FR M-9603-463V 83mm CAI--(OEM 08-09 Ford Mustang Bullitt CAI)

FR M-9926-3V 62mm TB--(later Ford SVT upgraded performance part--originally used the OEM Ford 55mm TB w\ the 07-09 OEM GT500 TB's PTA\EA mapping in the FR500S tune file........I have recently acquired\in hand 2 copies of this FR500S's actual tune calibration file in HPTuners .hpt format is how I know this.........07-09 GT500 used the same Ford OEM physical 55mm TB as the GT & Bullitt did---08-09 OEM Bullitt also used the same 07-09 GT500 TB's tune PTA\EA mapping--not the GT TB's neutered tune PTA\EA mapping--in the 08-09 OEM Bullitt's tune calibration file......I also have an OEM copy of a 07 GT500's tune calibration file in hand as well.........FYI)

FR M-6650-3V "Hot Rod" Cams--(developed by Ford SVT specifically for this 08 FR500S factory race car's sealed production SBE 4.6L V8 using VCT thus are full VCT-compliant NSR performance parts designed strictly for competition racing use only & not intended for EPA-legal street use........based off the OEM S197 4.6L Mustang VCT production cams profile........reconfigured for peak TQ output in mid-range thru WOT top end when set @ Ford recommended WOT VCT 7*-20* retard profile, thus will naturally\intentionally chop at idle (VCT 0* or full VCT advance) due to large overlap duration w\ early cam IVO event causing exhaust gas reversion during idle & early cam EVO event ahead of the engine's 90* power stroke crankshaft angle creating engine idle instability & exhaust note sound......)

PS edit (9-27-24)--Forgot 1 more FR part:
FR M-4264-A Chrome Moly Adjustable Panhard Bar--(serviceable part developed for the 08 FR500S & later used on the 12-13 Boss 302R factory race cars.......very light weight but very stiff\strong w\ bushing sockets welded offset to PHB center to facilitate this bar clearing both FR diff covers--M-4033-KA "Track Pack" Finned Diff Cover & M-4033-G2 Low Profile Girdle--as well as most aftermarket designs)

'08 Ford 4.6L OEM Mustang IM w\ operational metal-housed CMCV's--(original 08 FR500S debut part---Ford SVT later upgraded IM w\ the FR M-9424-463V IM w\o operational CMCV's to be used in tandem w\ FR M-6049-N3VPA CNC Ported Cyl Heads--these heads were 1st used w\ the '08 OEM IM w\ operational CMCV's--& FR M-9926-3V 62mm TB to optimize flat out top end WOT speed\performance up to 6,500 RPM redline when paired w\ a set of LTH's to improve scavenging--these parts were developed strictly for competition racing use only & not intended for EPA-legal street use)

07-09 OEM Shelby GT500 suspension\brake parts\wheels I have currently installed......also used on\with the 08 FR500S:

FLCA's & Upper Strut Mounts
RLCA's, RUCA (same as GT RUCA but Roush-modified......called 3rd Link)
Front 14" 4-piston "Brembo" calipers & rotors (Power Stop 07-09 GT500 OE Front Brake Replacement kit)
Rear Calipers & Rotors (same as on GT)
Brake Booster (same as on GT)
Brake Master Cyl (same as on GT)
07-09 OEM GT500 SVT 18" x 9.5" Alloy wheels

Rear Axle:
Almost a copy..........original 08 FR500S used OEM Ford 8.8" 31-spline SRA from 08 Bullitt w\ the Bullitt's OEM 3.73 gears & diff upgraded to Torsen T2R.
Mine is an original OEM Ford 8.8" 31-spline SRA from my 09 GT w\ Motive Gear F888390 3.91 gears & diff upgraded to Eaton Tru-Trac.

Different Parts:
08 FR500S used all 07-09 OEM GT500 manual driveline (TR6060 6-speed WR trans w\ OEM shifter & floor plate, trans mount\crossmember & OEM 2-piece DS)
Mine is OEM 09 GT manual driveline (TR3650 5-speed trans w\ MGW aftermarket shifter on Blowfish Racing V2 Remote Shifter Bracket\Driveshaft Safety Loop & OEM 2-piece DS using a JXBPerformance S197 Center Bearing Carrier Assembly)

08 FR500S uses a special race-tuned ABS module that works in tandem w\ the 08 FR500S's Spanish Oaks based ECU w\ special OS controller firmware loaded
Mine is the std 09 OEM GT street-tuned ABS module & std 05-09 S197 Spanish Oaks ECU that is common across the 05-09 GT S197 MY's......FYI

08 FR500S uses the 05-10 S197 FR Handling Pack Suspension kit
Mine is using OEM 08-09 Ford Bullitt "factory take-off" springs courtesy of Aerofinz on Koni STR.ST struts\shocks w\ OEM Ford 11-14 GT\11-14 GT500\12-13 Boss 302--not Laguna Seca-- "Performance Pack" F\R Sway Bars

08 FR500S uses the original FR 4.6L S197 Front STB (will only clear the OEM 4.6L IM w\o any covers installed)
Mine is using a SR Extra Tall S197 Front STB (will fit over all Ford OEM 4.6L IM w\ covers installed, all 4.0L V6 IM & will just clear the FR M-9424-463V IM by 1\8" on OEM 4.6L engine mounts while fitting under the stock hood w\o touching any part of it)

Am now really getting the vibes to swap in an entire 07-09 OEM GT500 6-speed WR--2.97 1st gear--manual driveline & up rear axle gear ratio to FR 4.30's (near equal to TR3650\3.73 1st gear final drive ratio) ............definitely a later potential project on down the line, will most likely plan to do the EPAS conversion swap 1st as this has priority w\ me at this time.

Note: Read on CJ Pony Parts site that this FR500 series was started in 1999 w\ the 1st S197 FR500 series race cars in 05-07 being of the FR500C racers (the 5.0L 4V "Cammer" engine) w\ the FR500S factory race car's debut in 08 MY to compete in the Miller Cup Challenge Racing series.

PS edit--It was never my intention of emulating this "race car for the street"................strictly a result of all natural selection\circumstance that just happened to closely emulate this particular car's loadout.

Noice. That’s a pretty similar set up to what I’m wanting to do to my GT.

didn't see any mention of the exhaust setup (maybe one of the best sounding ever):

frpp/borla long tube headers
x pipe
fr500S mufflers

Good catch..............neglected to post that for my car................

You've posted the 08 FR500S exhaust setup.........

Mine is a set of Kooks 1 5\8" LTH's w\ Kooks 2 1\2" X-pipe midpipe section that has a couple of MF #5461336 CARB-cert EO#D-193-140 TWC cats welded in thru a Pypes Super Bomb Mid-Muffler 2 1\2" catback exhaust w\ 4" x 14" chrome resonator tips thus is a full flowing resonated exhaust system (no baffling\chambering similar to the FR500S's exhaust system design) outside of the 2 cats.........but these 2 cats are oversized (a full 39% oversized vs the 09 GT OEM 4.6L's 4,500 lb GVWR cat capacity sizing rating @ 6,255 lb GVWR) vs the OEM 4.6L cats, thus these cats are pretty much looking like a straight pipe to this SBE 4.6L V8 (my last WOT VE calcs ran since I recently rectified the restricted air inlet filter in my Bullitt CAI approached 97% VE at 79*F IAT thus shows she's breathing\exhausting pretty good thru a set of FRPP Hot Rod cams set @ VCT 17* retard instead of at the Ford recommended VCT 20* retard up here in US 4 Corners area at 5,394' elevation..........).

FYI.......................

Here's a picture of another '08 FR500S running the upgraded Ford SVT designed FR 62mm TB & FR 3V IM. Note the original FR500S's FR front STB is missing as it won't fit over this IM.

I also made note of how this FR500S owner\racer used water piping insulation to enhance the hood liner-to-CAI seal....................
