For those so interested.................

Here is a Hot Rod article written by Greg Banish containing info gained using his personal 2009 Chevy Corvette C6 (twin turboed) showing proof that using the right designed cats do not restrict exhaust flow vs using straight pipe thus do not restrict engine HP\TQ output capability AND can LEGALLY pass all US EPA Fed emissions stds up to & including the current LEV III & soon LEV IV:

This is what has been missing in the performance world............someone providing real world, verifiable & creditable proof of this capability. Stands to reason that it took an actual OEM Calibration Engineer to do the necessary work to disprove the misdirection\outright untruths that has been so widespread over the last 15-20 yrs.............. Also, there are 2 YouTube videos from Minnoxide podcasts hosting Greg Banish that he also gives more detail on this & on other topics concerning tuning.......both now & the future. Sad part is that G-Sport\GESI has been around for at least the last 10+ yrs making this stuff................

Worth the viewing IMHO...........especially if 1 is actively tuning thru OEM ECUs...............

Also to note:
G-Sport\GESI has also now set up a US branch located in NC that also has an online store so you can now buy these direct from G-Sport\GESI instead of thru a distributorship system (distributors selling their products to a retailer--like Kooks for example) which means that you now can get the benefit of G-Sport\GESI having their products fully US EPA Fed-certified emissions compliant (their logo thus their paid for US EPA Fed cert number etched on the cats themselves.......a US EPA Fed requirement for the product to have "certified condition" status according to the current US EPA Tampering Policies which supersedes "original condition" status.......this went into effect in Jan 1, 2009............thus provides the US EPA acknowledgement of "reasonable basis for conduct".

FYI, Greg Banish also uses these very G-Sport\GESI cats when he is employed to install cats, tune & get a CARB EO# for the finished tune for the customer's performance vehicle (does this work on consignment only thus not for the general public.............).

So now I finally have picked up a pair of these cats (got G-Sport\GESI's new Advanced GenII "mid-bed design" which are compatible w\ the Spanish Oak ECU's emissions programming which is centered around the rear O2 sensors being located\mounted in the cat housing between 2 substrate bricks to correctly measure the % of free O2--or lack thereof--passing thru the 1st brick.......the flow thru the larger sized cat housing instead of thru the actual 2 1\2" exhaust pipe is key to our early 05-10 S197 car's ECU's ability to accurately operate & maintain optimal catalyst function & longevity while also maintaining optimal engine operations as well............just as my current MagnaFlow #5461336 CARB-cert TWC OEM-grade cats are designed & performing--these have developed a crack in 1 of the cat's outer housing where I ran over a rock in the road some 3 1\2 yrs back & put a good dent in the back half of the outer shell that has evolved into a stress crack from the constant heat cycling over the yrs..........not affecting the cat's ability to clean the exhaust but the writing is on the wall sooner or later) to replace my existing MF cats then also get the 2 extra O2 sensor bungs installed so I can then install my Zeitronics ZT-4 Dual WB O2 Sensor Controller & WB O2 sensors (Bosch LU 4.9 UEGO's) that I've had for the last 7 yrs.

Got pictures but they're too large to attach.............even after downsizing them 3 times so sorry.

1 I've known all along that cats do not kill power (from dyno tests). Sometimes you actually get a torque GAIN in the mid rpm range.
2 Some of the article IS propaganda.
3 None of this will make the "no cats at all costs" guy to run cats.

Yes you can make good power with modern cats that are highly efficient… not so much with the older style cats which were extremely restrictive.

Tuning is key when it comes to running with or without cats.

Now will it pass state emissions???? LOL

Yes, yes it will. Passes the visual, and exempt on miles. Gotta love it.

Running Kooks " green " cats, N.J. doesn't have a visual, just plugs into the OBDII port.
My 2011, ( sold in 2017 ) passed with no issues.

Running Pypes metallic spun cats here with my longtubes and zero performance loss.

I do think the substrate quality and cell count certainly can make a difference, but running a good high quality cat shouldn’t prevent flow. Plus it sounds better and smells better :)

My old car had the same setup but with an off road X pipe and it was obnoxious, it stunk and it wasn’t any faster…plus I couldn’t pass emissions.

I put cats on my 91 recently. Why? I am selling it, and giving test rides, and using it a little, it was annoyingly loud. It has shortys, X, and flowmasters, full tailpipes. Having the interior out didnt help. Now cats & interior in- much nicer.

A 91’ has four OEM cats… I am sure it muffled the exhaust but I bet it hurt performance too…

The key here is "aftermarket" cats do not hurt performance. My car, with original cats, dyno'd 291whp. (Average of 3 runs) With high flow cats it averaged 304. ECU would pull timing out with factory cats. Not an issue with the new ones.

340 hp Ford Racing crate 302, Vortec Strim. Buttdyno didn't notice any loss of perf. Still blows the rears off just by hitting the skinny pedal. Whatever power I gave up, was worth it for the comfort factor.

High flow cats threw codes on my 2011, that's how I got into the " green " cats..

I use the simulators. No codes. I'm catless now. Still no codes. I wish I could figure out a way to squeeze green cats in on my single turbo setup. I would like to be able to pass CT emissions.
