I used my new M&H 275/50R17 drag radials and turned in my best 60ft times at 1.8. I am wondering what other drivers are doing that have Automatics , stock converter and supercharged cars do to get the best 60 ft times. I don't go to the track much but there are a few club members that need a lesson in humility if you know what I mean. I think I am doing a pretty good burn out but spin some on the launch at 17psi. BTW ,the track was pretty green as this was the first day of the year. Almost forget I am running Koni adjustables. Full soft up front and one turn down on the rear

You need to heat the tires up REALLY good on your very first pass. Also, one common mistake is spinning the tires IN the water box. You want to roll through and heat them on the dry pavement.

2nd gear and hold for at least 6-7 sec.

Then on your following passes just do a quick 2 sec warm up and you're good to go.

I was out of the water spinning them over 50mph and letting them spin down while off the brake but not 6-7 secs. I will give it try next time

damn i just sent you a long reply and computer messed up and it didn't go through.
i run my same tires at 16psi and recommend this as a starting point. (taken from john from m/h himself at the track). take a look at the video on my sig and see how i do my burnouts. go around the water, then reverse the rear wheels into it, then drive out of it a few feet. do your burnout- 5 to 6 seconds, then you're good to go. i launch off the nitrous at the line and pull consistent 1.55 60's on the setup. I'm on the stock converter as well and rev up to 2k at the line foot braking it.

I'm NA and I footbrake up to about 2k and give it hell. I pull consistent 2.00 60ft times on a regular street tire.

Finally got back to the track. Cut a 1.83 60ft and no spin off the line at all leaving around 1500rpms. Running the 1/8th at 7.99 at 88.43 mph.

I am very consistent running 7.99, 8.02 8.04 etc. and I am wondering if this all she got in her.

FYI I am running a stock converter

try launching at around 2k if you can. the m/h's will hook. i had a bad night at the track due to traction control being on in my tune for some reason BUT was consistent in my times also. .03 difference in 1/4 mile times and .002 difference at the 1000 mark between my two runs

Launching at 2k is tough. The torque curve on the KB starts taking off there and on occasion I spin with the brake on before the green light. I will work on that though. I am pretty sure the tires will stick. There pretty amazing compared to street tires

One other little tidbit. I am running the KB street tune which sets my shift points to 6k.

I came out of the hole at 2K Friday night and I perceived that I was to close to the yellow line after launch so I got off her. If the car drifts its always left. I turned down the shock on that side to compensate. Still trial and error. Normally I run in the left lane and that time I ran on the right. Guess my old mind played a little trick on me . I just got back into racing again after 30 year lay off.

i always choose the right lane and feel more comfortable in the right lane. only ran the left 3 times total i think. i started in the right lane when i first started doing this and definitely like the feel of the right more. plus my buddy is always filming and shooting pics and the right is closest to the stands

I launch from idle on the 100 shot Bama nitrous tune. I think what you need to do is practice your launches in your driveway, or a place you will not get in trouble doing it. I use to be able to hold at 2500 with my Bama race tune. Now I can only hold to 2k with Mickey Thompson ET streets. I found that launching from idle is better. You do not heat the converter up so much also.

I also leave at idle, one thing I have found is, rolling intot he throttle insead of "stomping" it the floor gets rid of that little bit of hesitation. I am no F/I so "rolling" into the throttle may not have any bearing.

I've been able to hold at 2k since day one... Never higher. I got the launch down with my setup after
So many passes. I really wish I could see what a higher stall converter will do for me

Yea it really wakes these cars up. I have been looking at them for a while now. I also want to add the deep tranny pan,and cams at the same time. Bamachips.com has a deal on the package. I am just not sure about TCI`s coverter. I am not sure about the PI converter either. I hear of one made in Texas, that is just about bullet proof. I wil get some info on that soon. I will update this .

What elevation are you at? The higher you are the harder it is.
