Has anyone seen this where a GT v8 5 speed has CG 3.31 gears on the doors sticker?
I thought it was a transplant but the trans says K which is 5 speed and H in the vin shows it’s a v8.

I thought all 5 speed GTs came with 3:55 unless it’s a bullet which they got 3:73’s and all autos came turn 3:31.

I know I’m new to the platform but am I missing something?

Ford went back and forth on this throughout the 2005-2010 S197 years. For the 2005 and 2006 years, the GT Manual came with 3.55 only (standard). For the 2009 year, the 3.55 was optional while the 3.31 was standard (both options came with limited slip on the GT), and yes the 3.73 came with the Bullitt Package.

In the 2009 order guide, it is worded awkwardly, but the 3.31 is still standard on the manual transmission.

...about the 3.73 / 3.55 gears. when the ratio is changed, thereafter the speedo needs to be calibrated - right ?

OK thats good to know that I'm not going crazy, I thought they all came with 3:55's with manuals, learn something new everyday right. Well I'm going to be fully upgrading my rear end now yay anyone want to come help they are more than welcome to. I'm going to do a full rebuild now I guess and throw in the Eaton Trutrac, new 3:55 gears and whatever else I need to.

If you are going through the effort of swapping gears, why not go to 3.73 or even 4.10s?

Going from 3.31 to 3.55 isn’t that big of a difference overall.

You do not need to change any hardware to correct the Speedo after a gear change. Just use an SCT X4 and change the ratio in the PLC. You can also correct for tire height differences in the same menu.

Reason why I don't go 3.73 is it's in the SCCA Club spec rules I HAVE to run 3.55 since Im a manual. View attachment 109839
Honestly in my opinion, the 3.55 works ideal for a road course car with the factory TR3650 gearing; I analyzed the taller 3.73 and 4.10 gears for the tracks in my area, and they would have put my shifts into areas that were not beneficial or too short of a gear spacing. Being able to stay in a gear longer and utilize the power band between corners won out with 3.55s for me. Also less likely to get the rear end gear noise that have plagued others with the tall 4.10 gears (not that it really matters on a dedicated track car).

From what I understand, the taller rear gears with the N/A 4.6L are really more ideal for the dragstrip and needing the upper RPM range to pull out of the hole.

i think your wrong ,,
the 3650 has a ungodly tall 3rd which puts you way low in the rpm and hp range,
i dont think thats ideal at all ..
for track defiantly 3.73 at a minimum .,.
unless your boosted,, then the whole game changes .
i have 4:10 in my car and it made it so much more fun all the way around,
comming out of turns it throws you back in your seat. ..

stock gearing you will be comming out of a turn and getting passed by a prius
