What are most of you running for wheels at the track??

I currently have 20" Carrol Shelby CS69's, with Nitto Extreme 555R 305/35/20's. Although they are drag radials I know they are a HEAVY Setup.

Should I run these or are most of you running a different economical solution like stocker 17" or 18" wheels w/ a drag radial or slick??
If so What is a Good Setup?????

CK My Sig for the details on motor setup/gear, etc....

Thanks for the input.

Personally, I run slicks on 15" Bogarts, but that's not really "economical". I suggest 17" wheels with M&H drag radials. The M&H tires are awesome. The only downside of the drag radials vs slicks is the cost. I've never got more than 75 runs out of a pair of DRs, but I usually get 200 - 225 runs on a pair of slicks.

p.s. Moved this thread to the correct forum.

OK Thanks.

So a drag radial can hook up just as good as a slick under High HP/High RPM launches??

I personally have never owned a set of DR's until this car and have only used them on the street.

As far as the track I have only used the ET Drags in the past.
The way the DR's spin thru the gears on the street in this car I can't imagine them hooking up.

Maybe it has to do w/ the pad and rubber at the track????

There are race cars running 8's in the 1/4 (maybe 7s?) on DRs, so they can be made to work. As far as S197s go, look at this list. There are at least four cars in the 9s on DRs, and many more in the 10s.

What is your current times at the 1320? Whats your 60ft with those 20's? A lighter wheel is gonna help your times for sure. My best 60ft is 2.15 with the tires in my sig and stock 3.31 gears.

At my track if you have slicks you cannot run in the street class (DR's or street tires only), so you better be running at least a 12.9 or there is not a class you can run in. Check the rules at your track before you purchase.

I have not been to the track with it, hoping when the winter ends to get there in the spring.

I am thinking / hoping I should be in the low 11's w/ this current setup.
523rwhp / 501rwhp should be close???

I'd like to just run my 20" Drag Radials, but don't know how much they will hurt 1/4 mile ET's??
Any ideas???

Thanks

Yeah, I went a best of 10.71 @ 131 mph on the 20's and the car is currently for sale.

What mods were done to that car running 10.71 on 20's????

I am shopping around for a setup to swap out the 20's when I head to the track???
17's sound like a good option?
If so what wheels are economical?
Tires to run on these wheels??
Thanks Again

Says "TriAx Shifter" in his sig. Not sure on the stall, though. :whistling:

Missed that....obviously.If you can get it to leave on the 20" d/r's....great. If not, go with 15x8's and ET Street bias ply or ET Drags.

Hmmmm I guess 501TQ is not good huh???
If you took the time to look at some blower car #'s you would see most are a bit lower on TQ.
In fact some have Tq #'s lower by 40-45. So I don't think my 22 less Tq than Hp is odd at all.
Well thanks Anyway for the helpful replyto my original post...........

Thank You....
Are 15's OK w/ my 4.10 Gears????

US1....
Sorry I will have a 3650 w/ McLeod RST and Alum flywheel.

What skinnies are suggested?? Tire & wheel size??
Thanx

I'm just running a set of the OEM 17's with MT ET Streets stuck on them and the OEM 17's inflated close to the max psi up front. Works well enough, but I'd like to get a set of big & littles down the road.

I actually have an extra set of OEM 17's w/ the OEM tires & sensors still in them..

Don't get you panties in a wad. He was poking fun at your typo: "523rwhp / 501rwhp". <<< See, no torque listed at all.
