Well the pypes mid muffler kit is on the way....only 200 miles on it. For those who say the fitment sucks, do they tend to rattle or touch the body? Since I installed the Pypes o/r x, I have a rattle thats driving me bonkers! The only place that is close is at the pass side band clamp at the x pipe/stock tailpipe connection. It is close to the stock steel driveshaft loop..if thats what it is.

the fitment isn't to terrible it just needs a bit of bending to get it to align up right on the hangers and what not. if assembled together corerectly shouldn't have any noises.

Do you mean the o/r x? If so you might want to re-think that as o/r x and flows sound extremely raspy unless that is the sound you want.

Yeah I had the old 50 series before with the o/r x pipe and know how raspy it can be. Right now I have the new 40 series with my old o/r x pipe. I'm much happier since all the squeaks and rattles are gone. I changed all the clamps on the pypes system trying to get it to stop, but nothing worked for me. I'm switching to an o/r h pipe when I get long tube headers.

NO the fitment pretty much sucks azz, everyone ive talked to said the same thing ! I went the Jegs route and just ordered 2 of them had my muffler guy weld em in ... found a used O/R X and Shorites on another forums and volla ! Sounds great ! The trumpeting is a bit much sometimes but at WOT on the freeway or strip is pure pleasure ! Im actualy looking at on O/R H due to the raspyness when just crusing... Since the mid pipes on these cars really dont give you Sht for HP im not to worried...

No one make the same mistake as me and run flowmasters with Off Road X Pipe. Car was horrible to drive and stayed in the garage till I fixed it.

Here below is my Car with Pypes Off Road X and Pypes rear mufflers. Trumpets pretty bad and 25-50% throttle, but at idle she sounds like a bad ass.

just have an exhaust shop weld up the connections
mine is M80's midmounted, MBRP muffler deletes, BBK LT's and o/r x pipe.
this is my 5th and best exhaust combo yet.

Interesting... I was considering adding a set of SSS terminator (basically resonators) axle backs in combination with the pypes M-80s to bring the sound level down a bit and increase the deepness. Didn't think about a muffler delete setup with corrugated pipe.

I installed MBRPs (awesome built mufflers)

whoever makes the MBRP makes them for several companies, Steeda included. And yes, they are awesome sounding, my favorite of any S197 muffler I've ever heard.

I had the mid muffler system with a catted x on my GT and loved it, but who ever welded the hangers on the tail pipes must have been cross eyed because they are in the absolute wrong spot.

I did buy a new mid muffler system for the GT500, but it is a brand new system that the hangers aren't welded up yet.

Did you get the Pypes or the Roush system this time?

Just got it installed this afternoon. I already had a pypes o/r x on it with the stock Roush legal mufflers. This thing was a bitch to get aligned where the mufflers didnt rest on the gas tank(s) and the over the axle pipes didnt hit the panhard bar or the spare tire well. Since I have the Roush rear facia, couldnt use the last section of the pipes. Had to have a 2 foot section of 2 1/2" pipe custom bent to get the rectangular tips to line up in the cutouts. Talk about loud! Jesus! May have to put the catted H back on it later.

i didn't have that hard of a time getting it lined up right. but w/e none the less, with shorty headers from frpp and the stock h pipe it really sounds amazing, at idle it isn't obnoxious and when your cruising it doesn't drone all that bad. but when you get on it dayum it sounds so nice.
here's my car with that setup obviously its the silver gt

the fitment issues are nothing serious i had the kit and it needed minimal tweaking. considering the price and the sound its worth the little bit of effort needed to get it to fit perfectly. i had the kit on for about a year and not a single part of it had any rust on it what so ever and frankly i think that shows that it was made with quality metal.

i'm sure it is i kept my stock cats, i don't necessarily want the loudest car but i don't want something as quite as a prius. but it will give you an idea of what the system sounds like with stock cats/h-pipe.

Gotcha. If it winds up being too obnoxious, I have my stock catted H ready to go back on. Just dont want to give up the slight power increase of the o/r pipe.

meh, i just don't need the additional attention it attracts to a car that already isn't smog legal in ca. plus i really hate paying tickets.
