Hey guys i have been trying to redesign the exterior of the car to make it look as good as it runs.

I always wanted a wheel with a HUGE lip, to me it looks so damn sexy. I couldn’t find a wheel that was already made that already had a black center piece, but a big fat chrome lip. So, I went and found the perfect wheel I wanted in chrome, and I was planning on powder coating the entire center section black. I have ran into an issue with this.

For 20” wheels (staggered fitment, 20x10 rear), the appropriate offset for our stang would be +(35-45) . I currently have a 35 offset with a 275/35/20 Nitto 555 and it fits fine without any rubbing issues. The wheel that I found, is only made in a +20 offset. That is a 15 mm difference which according to my calculations would make a .54” difference on both sides (1000mm=1m, 3ft= 1m. 3ft=36 inches, so 1000mm/36 inches =27.775 mm per inch. Then take 15mm/27.775 = .54”). That means the wheel would stick out .54” on each side, but that would be with my current 275 tires. I was hoping I could go with a 305 drag radial on those wheels but now that seems like a far fetched idea because that would make it stick out even further. (BTW, I am lowered with Eibach prokit).

If you look at one of the pics in my sig, you can see that with my body kit (3d carbon, has fender flares) the wheels don’t really fill in the gap. So the wheels sticking out more and a fatter tire would actually help make the wheels look like they fit the car. However, my concern is that the tires are going to rub against the fender when launching hard or going over speed bumps and tear my tires apart. I would like to try and avoid rolling the fenders in case i want to remove the body kit one day and trade it for another.

1) I have seen people in other threads run the 99-04 offset (basically this offset) and it fit their cars but it just stuck out a little. However, they didn’t have 305’s in the rear and were not dropped with Eibach Pro-kit. Does anyone know if my ideal setup is possible?
2) The guy at the wheel company said they can “shave/machine” part of the wheel hub off to make it fit better. Does this compromise the integrity of the wheel? If its ok, how much can be shaved off and still be ok?
3) I am pretty set on these wheels, Is there anything else I could do to fit them on the car? Going with a different springs? Other Ideas?

Thanks In advance for all the help.

You can run the setup with the 99-04 offset with the 305 drag radials and you'll be fine. Especially since you said that the body kit has a little more room to play. The pro kit still has some clearance between the fender itself and the tire. I would purchase you desired setup, install and see if there is any issues before changing anything.

Shaving/Machining the hub of the wheel should not jepordize the integirty of the wheel unless its done improperly. Your fine if you wanna go that route.

Like I stated before, I would change anything as far as your suspension goes until you test fit everything to know for sure you'll have rubbing or fitment issues.

Thanks In advance for all the help.

Well the body kit makes it look wider by about 1/2-3/4", but it does not extend the actual fender part. So, as far as clearance its same as stock. I would hate to get the wheel and have it powdercoated and find out its not going to fit right lol. Also, do you know if there are any limits on the shaving?

Test fit them before you powdercoat them...and im not sure of the hub machining limitations and not a trade I do.

The 20x11 Steeda wheels I had on my car used up every available millimeter of the factory Ford sheet metal, but you cannot push the wheel out far enough to meet up with the 3D Carbon body kit unless you want some serious rubbing and bottoming issues. Down side of having the kit.

But when I put the 20x11 rear with 305 tire (wish I did 315 after it was done) and the 20x9.5 front with 285 tire I was happy. No, those wheels did not fit flush with the faux fender width the body kit added, but looked damn good. The only way to get what you are after is to have the flare portion made out of metal and sculpted / molded to the original skins and you are talking HUGE bucks.

The issue is i would hate to purchase the wheels and mount tires on them, to figure out that they will rub and be stuck with wheels i dont want. Maybe i can find someone with 305 drag radials on an 99-04 and fit them.

Yeah Brandon i would love to have the body kit molded/sculpted to the body but i am missing the most important part, $$$$! I guess since your steeda wheels are something like +55-58 offset, it was able to tuck into the factory fender.

Thanks a lot for the link Loots!! I found good info on the thread . The only problem i am having is finding someone with the drop + tire size. People posted up with the same offset and even 305, but they were stock height. My concern is that it will rub on the fender.

Has anyone seen 99-04 offset wheels on an S197 running 305's with a drop?

andres grnbullet(scott) had my h&r springs that was the 2 in drop with 325s..but yes he had the right offset foose rims..the 20x10s the 04 offset would possibly work you just might be limited to the width of tire cuz of the bodykit fender.

You can fit big tires on these cars without any serious mods. I have a 325 Nitto INVO on the rear for sometime.

Exactly how much was your car dropped to fit the 325's in the back? What was the offset of your wheels?

Yeah i just really need to have 305s drags to get some good traction. I reallly dont want the tire to rub.

Killrb those wheels look good! I almost got them instead of the CS69's. Do you have any pictures of the back of your car showing the width of the rims and tires as they contact the pavement.

Grn how do you like the INVO's. I'm considering getting those in a wider tire than my current 295's next go round. I couldn't find any shots of what I was asking for ^^^^ of your car. Point me in the proper direction please!
