I was wondering what you guys though about this setup.

http://www.cjponyparts.com/baer-era...front-rotor-upgrade-gt-/-v6-2005-2009/p/BR36/

Now, first off.....I know that drilled isn't exactly ideal...and I want slotted only. but it's a street driven car that sees MAYBE 6 track days per year....whether it be road atlanta VIR or Nashville superspeedway.

Would this setup be acceptable for that?

Or should I just get the GT caliper brackets and get the 12.4 inch slotted rotors for about 100 ish dollars less.

Also I need to note, i'll be running high temp fluid and stainless lines too.

I currently have 18x10 FR500's at all four corners....+40 offset.
Will the 14" rotors clear the FR's?

Thanks for any imput ya'll can give me :)

A set of 14" DBA 5000 drilled/slotted rotors is $500, so you're basically paying $150 for the brackets necessary to run the larger front rotors. So its not a bad deal - the drilled rotors will eventually crack, but you can replace them with the DBA 5000 slotted rotors and you'll be good to go. Get the Goodridge SS brake lines. You can't go wrong with Motul 600RB or Super ATE Blue (or Gold) DOT 4 fluid. Check into a set of GT500 Brembos too.

If - and that's a loud, thunderous, full-bodied if - the FR500s clear Brembos, go with a used setup instead. It'll cost about the same, and you'll end up with an all around better product. If you know anyone with a GT500, you may wanna ask for a favor and mount a wheel...

This is just my opinion based on what I would do, and have done.

Yes i think its a good way to go.

The two piece baer eradispeeds looks like a great unit.

An alternative i would look into instead of just slotted is the J hook rotors.

Rotorpros sells them for around 250-300.

J hooks are used by many race teams and they look badass.

As someone else mentioned the drilled rotors are far from ideal for track use, and will most certainly crack. It's not a question of "if", but "when". The reason why is stated in there name, "drilled". The drilling process weakens the material and creates stress around the holes.

A set of quality rotors, preferably slotted, good brakes pads, lines and brake cooling would be an awesome set-up. In my opinion it would be easier and a more efficient to swap pads at the track then rotors, a set of Hawk HPS for the street and depending on your tire set up a set of more aggressive race pads for the track.

On my 06 GT race car I had the GT500 set-up with the slotted rotor upgrade, SS lines (Goodrich) and DTC-60 pads and I would outbrake anything for the full session with no brake fade at all. I did have a set of high end drilled rotors on the car at first, and I literally exploded the rotors (twice) on track after just a few sessions.

In short for performance, pads, fluid and cooling are more important then the rotors. But for a little bit of looks, and still even better performance slotted rotors would be awesome.

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding a brake set-up for your Stang! We have tested them all, both and off track so I would be glad to help.

I do have a few friends with GT500's....I'll have to give one of them a call.
Where can I find a set of GT500 brembos? I mean obviously CL or Ebay, But I'm wondering if any company sells them used that I can just order from that way.
I'm somewhat worried that they won't clear though.....it seems like a pretty tight fit as far as caliper/spoke clearance as is.

Elaborate on the J hooks.....do you have a link?

i have the baer +2 setup but i have the GT setup which uses the corvette PBR calipers so the pads are more available in different compounds. i like the setup and with the full stainless lines it really handles every road course ive been to so far. im not as aggressive as most people here but for what i do it has worked great for me.
one thing i do not like, the 2 piece rotors are a pain in the butt to replace. the torque sequence needs to be perfect or they will not seat correctly on the aluminum hub.
also the friction rings are quite expensive, but you can get the regualr cores without the cross drilling or slotting for track days.
overall i like it for the price and how effective it worked out over the stock pads/rotors.

So the two piece rotors don't come pre-assembled? I'm not worried about it, but I just figured they might ya know?

Thanks for the imput!
