Hey All,

While I save up some money for the parts I need to finish up my Nitrous kit, I decided to overhaul the engine bay. I played around with a couple of designs in photoshop, and ultimately settled on a scheme that should match my current black & blue combo:

Intake off the car:

Pony off and sanding down the cover:

I didn't exactly take step-by-step pics since I was working with a few pieces at once while others dried. So here's the intake after being degreased, cleaned, sprayed with adhesion promoter, and covered in an awesome wrinkle finish:

I also decided along the way I'd "blackout" my Zex kit so that it's not so noticeable once its installed.

Next I wanted to do my new C&L intake in the same wrinkle finish, but with my tuner's logo popping through in chrome (Racer's Edge Tuning). This was a totally spur of the moment idea, and it actually came out really sweet!
Prepping for polish - sanded down with 1,000 grit:

First run through with the buffing wheel on my drill

Polished up with the vinyl decal in place:

Fast forward - here it is all finished up - came out awesome!

Next was my ported/polished GT500 TB:

Next up - Is to spray the intake cover blue, then carefully mask off the lettering and "fins" on the intake cover & I paint it black. Let it dry a few days and peel it off - then the blue will pop right out!
More pics on that to come as the masking alone on that amount of lettering is making me go cross-eyed!

How did you go about painting the C&L intake? I want to paint my black, I hate the off-grey of it.

Everything looks great btw.

Clean it up really well
Sand it down to roughen it up
Spray an adhesion promoter on it
Prime & paint

What paint did you use?

Its actually a black wrinkle used for truck bed linings:

I like this stuff since it's only $7 a can and looks like powdercoating at a fraction of the cost. It also holds up REALLY well since its heat, chemical, and water resistant.

Looks fantastic sir. Now just move the battery and do a little wire tuck and that bay will be smokin!

Yeah I've been looking at all the wire-tuck threads. Unfortunately this is my DD, so I usually can't leave it parked for several days to work on a project like that. Maybe when I put my intake back on I'll see if I can tuck some under the valley.:thumb:

The driver side is real easy to tuck and I just took the passenger side and shoved it betweeen the injectors and COPs.

Moving the battery is a BIG improvement to the apperance of space and cleanliness as well.

Lol Yeah... I was showing my sister my shotgun and through some slight confusion she loaded it and pulled the trigger. Would have helped if I told her that I had rounds in the tube. I figured she knew me well enough to know that.
