Its still a heavy slow pig. I will bet money they run a mid maybe low 12 in the 1/4 stock..ANd it will not come close to a 2011 GT500 stock for stock. I think 5.0's with a few mods will beat them..

Couldn't have said it better. Although that weight won't matter as much with a smaller pulley and bolt ons. Fat or not 600rhwp will move out. Still ugly though. Whats crazy is that these new camaros make our cars seem light. I don't feel so bad about my car weighing 3600lbs.

i like it, and love that GM used the ZL1 name over the Z/28. i know im probably the only one, but it is a badass car. imagine what BPUs will do for it. 700whp is probably no out of the question.

even as much as i like camaros, id still probably fork out the coin for a shelby. the weight of the camaro is not needed. there is no reason that car should be so heavy.

I agree the ZL1 name is very cool. However, it was a limited package built for drag racers. As we all know, the Z/28 was the road race package. The usage of the name ZL1 for this car is historically incorrect. I would rather see Z/28 on it. Now, a strip down Camaro ZL1 with a solid rear axle would be cool.

550/550 4,100 lbs give or take, still isn't touching the gt500, nice try GM but no cigar :roflmao:
Plus you can't boost the LSA to hell like the 5.4.

This car is too heavy with too much technology to be a Z/28....however with the Boss coming out it was mentioned that maybe a Z/28 may come to the table with more of the spirit of the Z/28.

The V is just as fast as the GT500 with less tire, they trap and ET about the same on average. But again as I have said many times I am more curious about how it handles in relation to a GT500 because that cars handling with the SVTPP is truly a revelation.

the camaro is switching platforms in the next two model years. its going to be a smaller car. they cant add much more power before the camaro becomes faster than the vettte. i imagine that is when we will see the Z/28 badge used again.

i think GM attached the ZL1 badge to this car mostly because its "big power" like the ZL1 cars were. yes they were factory built drag cars but nobody really builds anything like that anymore.

and you CAN boost the LSA to hell. there are a few 750-800whp CTSv on the stock blower. and it will be more than a match for a GT500. the V already is a tick faster stock for stock and the V is heavier than the camaro iirc.

i just really like the way ford is/has done things. i think out of the two companies the have sold out the least. GM is a whore, ford is the girl you marry.

I always said I don't drive Government Motors unless its Cadillac or Corvette but damn this thing is a cut price CTS-V. However I think I would just go with a preowned V rather than buy this. I can't buy a GT500 because one of my good friends owns the only one I want....jerk...LOL.

And SHHH....you can't dispute the king of Camaro .....so repeat after me...the GT500 will be much faster than this car even though it isn't any faster than the CTS-V on less tire!

So tell me, with all of this technology that it has. Does calling it a ZL1 make more sense? I so no.

Ok, it's faster now, so what, it's still a retro failure.

The Camaro is now supercharged diarrhea. Is one kind of shit better than another? Or is shit just shit?

So I guess its considered fast poopie.....so taco bell sh$# I would imagine would be the correct terminology. I think it makes sense to call it a ZL1 to not have people expect it to handle or be lightweight...which is what Z/28 should mean if we stay period correct.

But GM and the people that bought into the Camaro hype believed they handle great. If GM didn't believe they were building a handling car, then why did they put an IRS into it? It isn't until you lap them that they are convinced otherwise. They suck at the drags and the suck on a road course. So, what good are they? They are cars built for the street rodder crowd and posers.

I agree the Cadillac V is a great car. I would own own. However, if this Camaro is the best GM could do, it should have remained extinct.

But this thread is about the Camaro not the other cars GM builds that are good cars.

Honestly GM did a great job of repackaging a car that would not sell and slapping lipstick on this pig and sending it out the door as the prettiest pig in all the land! They should call it a GT Camar O because thats what it is!

But on the other hand because it was in Transformers I think I should buy one, maybe it will end up being in a movie or making me famous?
