    I have the shaker 1000. Crutchfield has the wiring kit to do everything. Loudness level, I have not noticed a difference but I've had the AVIC700BT in the car since '09. At some point I'll put aftermarket speakers in, the stock ones are still going.

    +1 on Crutchfield. I put in a Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX because I wanted wireless CarPlay. It is WAY better than the old Pioneer AVIC unit I had. Also it is lighter and about 1/2 the size depth wise. Wish I would have done that earlier.

    How is your oil level? I had something similar happen to me, stumped me too, changing filters..plugs..etc. Turned out the oil level was really low. Extremely stupid on my part but it sounds very similar to your description.
