I've messed with cars all of my life, but never spent a lot of money on them. In the back of my mind I'd say all of my toys and projects have been surrogate Corvettes, which I have never owned.
My grandest car experience was building a FFR Cobra (2007-2012, sold in 2016), which was built from the drivetrain of an 88 GT 5.0.
Here's a list of Mustangs over the years: 66 2+2 289 4-speed (Project, not completed - sold on); 75 Mustang II Fastback 4 banger 5-speed (or was it 4?); 95 GT 5.0 5-speed convertible; 88 GT - donor for the Cobra; 89 5.0 LX auto convertible (flipped after switching trans); 2012 V6 Automatic Convertible - my daily driver now; and I just bought a 2006 GT 5-speed.
In addition to those I've had a parade of MGBs and TR6s, and one Miata, the greatest driving car of all of them IMO.
My first car was a 67 Camaro RS convertible 327 4-speed. I just learned that it still exists now in BC Canada, and is in fine shape!
I'm in Port Charlotte FL, just moved here from Lake Gaston, NC. I've also lived in WV, OH, and VA.
Please let me know if you're aware of any good Mustang groups here in SW FL. One of my fondest activities is Happy Hour, whether hanging out with cars, hanging out golfing, or just going out to eat at dive bars.
