Well I’m new to the fourm so I’m not quite sure I’m posting this in the right section but I’ll give it a shot lol. I’ve got a 08’ gt with a 5spd that I recently put bbk high flow Cats and a X pipe on paired up with my Roush cat back exhaust. The Roush cat back was fine before with my stock converters and h pipe, but now it’s quite loud with the bbk high flow cats and x pipe. My question to you guys is, have any of you pulled of the axle back part of this type of setup and installed some axle back mufflers or I was think about trying some resonated tips like the pypes Pype bomb axle back to take the edge off the sound to deepen it up a bit? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The only way to get that deep rumble is to mid mount some mufflers or resonators. There is not enough pipe after the muffler to get that deep old school sound. And cats make up for much of the sound absorption on your exhaust. I have cats right now (usually dont) and my car doesn't even sound like its running sometimes. I guess if there is an upside I can hear my blower whine now.

Well I ended up ordering a Borla catback with their stinger mufflers last night from Steeda. They have some good deals going one for their Father’s Day sale. I’m going to just pull off my Roush catback and leave my BBk high flow cats and X pipe on and bolt on that Borla catback. I’ve got a Borla S Type catback On my 19’ rebel and it sounds pretty decent. Fingers crossed it will sound aggressive on my 3V with high flow cats and a X pipe.

Just don't do what the neighbor kid down our street did to his Hellcat - whatever exhaust he installed sounds like a 5k can of firecrackers blowing off every time he takes that car out...total horseshit. I think it's straight-pipes which really don't help anything...especially our ears.

Yea, straight pipe is never the answer.

..and to 07 Boss' point, mid mount mufflers are the ticket. I have LT headers, o/r h-pipe, pypes' pipe bomb cat back and never cease to get compliments. I am serious, it is allll the time. The resonators at the end of the pipe bomb system does an amazing job of controlling the crackle and the unwanted decel sounds. Then the mid mount mufflers give more tube to travel thus a deeper throatier sound. However I see you went Borla already. They make good stuff too. Any manufacturer will be limited when doing an axel mounted muffler, but Borla is known for quality and so is Corsa.

Sure hope for your sake you don't experience that annoying interior resonance drone? When I ran Borla S-type axle-backs with both the stock catted H and off-road prochamber setups, the S-types did in fact sound aggressive on my 3V, but they also produced a very annoying cabin drone as well. Therefore my advice, would be to also consider adding some mid-mounted resonators/race mufflers which will reduce the amount of interior resonance drone that's produced by the Borla S-type axle back mufflers. Anyhow, just saying from personal experience.

+1 on the Pypes Pipe Bomb Mid Muffler full catback system for all the reasons given. I'm running the Super Bomb version & it is very deep & throaty w\ a heavy resonance & just like you that's 1 of the main compliments I also get quite frequently.

When you refer to w\ a heavy resonance, is that also considered as being as one in the same with heavy interior resonance drone which can be heard from inside the cabin?

I’m going to contact Steeda tomorrow morning first thing to see if I can switch that borla catback to a Corsa sport axle back. After looking at various videos on YouTube, I believe that would be a good option paired up with my high flow cats and x pipe. I don’t want any drone... would you guys recommend the Corsa sport or extreme’s with high flow cats and a x pipe?

Most axle backs out there are really designed to work with the factory cats in place, meaning that with any other setup they will be really loud. The MBRP's I have on my car now were decent and fairly mellow way back when I had factory cats, now they are really loud even with a catted shorty H pipe and short resonators in place...but damn does it sound good. High flow cats of any variety make a ton more noise than the factory ones do.

Corsa Sport will be loud, Corsa Extreme will be...well, extremely loud, just FYI.

Cant go wrong with either Corsa Sport or Extreme's. The main differences are the Corsa Sports are a bit more quiet and have a slightly deeper tone. The Extremes produce a louder exhaust note and have a slightly higher tone.

Looks like I’ll be leaning towards the sports then. I put my order in Saturday night for the borla catback, so I wouldn’t think they would be processing that order until Monday sometime and I’ll have time to switch it to the Corsa

For what it’s worth, a high flow catted x pipe and borla stingers sounded amazing on my 08 Bullitt.

Did you have any drone with that setup? Seems like it’s always around that 1800-2000? Range.

Yea, mine is the super bomb version too. Sometimes the name of the setup just seems so long to say. Lol

Ray! Do you notice any interior resonance drone with the "Pypes" pype bomb mid-muffler super bomb version? GlassTop09 mentioned in a previous response about the super bomb version as being very deep & throaty with a heavy resonance. However, I'm not quite certain what his description of "heavy resonance" is referring to. IMHO heavy resonance is also described as interior resonance drone

Honestly, what I consider drone and what you consider drone may be different. I think it is a good balance. I wish I could let you drive it

Agreed! As not everyone hears certain sound frequencies in the very same way as others may hear them. Anyhow, I also wish that you could let me take a test drive in order to hear your "Pypes" super pypes bomb mid-muffler cat-back exhaust in person
