Finally found the cause of my low voltage - Beware the all important grounds.

Great advice. Watch the Youtube channel "South Main Auto" sometime. He regularly finds 'green crusties' on braided ground wires that cause many gremlin issues. I regularly spray Surface Shield on my ground straps to hopefully reduce the corrosion on them. I replaced the OEM alternator on my 07...

    Alternator Working Intermittently

My original stock alternator died last year and I replaced it with a 2010 and just made the power cable connector larger and all good. I just use Costco batteries and replace every 5 years or so. I took the original alternator apart to inspect it - brushes looked worn of course but not horrible...

    Syncing/resetting TPMS sensors

I have an early 07 GT with the TMPS. Will the sensors mentioned by Martin work? When I looked at the details on Amazon for these it said 09-10 Mustangs but no mention of earlier ones.

Removing Driver Seat is Battery Disconnect Necessary?

I just pulled the seats to change the skins. No side airbag in mine so I didn't disconnect the battery. No issues. I think if I had the seats with the airbag, I would have disconnected the battery - better to be safe than have it go boom!

    2009 Mustang Rear Grinding Noise

I took it to a shop and up on the lift it went. It was pretty obvious that the noise was coming from the wheel area not the diff. Since the bearing change I haven't jacked it up and let it run so I can listen to the noise but it is there when I drive. I have looked at the brake pads to see if...

    Replacement Alternator

What's the difference between a PA performance and a rebuilt 2010 - compared to an OEM 2007 one? The 2010 version is 150A and the 2007 OEM one is 135A so better capacity. I don't have any upgrades that would draw more than factory load.

    2009 Mustang Rear Grinding Noise

Yeah - sounds like a throwout bearing to me too. Mine is an auto - so thats not my issue. Good luck finding your issue.

    Replacement Alternator

And since I posted the above note, my OEM alternator went bad. Car died on the road without warning. Well I did have a warning - the radio started going on and off and I thought the radio was going bad. Then I looked at the voltage gauge and I was down to 10 volts. Dropped fast from then on...

    2009 Mustang Rear Grinding Noise

I have a grinding noise too from the rear - sort of a TSHH TSHH TSHH and it changes with the speed. Took it to a shop and they said it was a bad diff. Took it to another and they figured it was coming from the brakes or bearings and they kind of verified to general location - from the passenger...

    Cigarette Lighter Cover (and seat)

Try CJ Pony parts for a lighter cover. There are lots of vendors that have fun little improvement mods for your 'new' car. Sequential tail lights are nice to have too as well. Have fun

Parasitic current draw - anyone have specs?

I had a power off draw on a Ram once and pulled fuses until the mA load dropped. As said, wait a while before measuring to allow things to timeout. Once I found my issue (it was power running boards that weren't completely closing each time and would continue to try to retract). I tried to fix...

    Rear Axle bearing change

Yeah it's new pricey oil and additive. I guess should just try to keep the oil really clean as it drains and re-use it. With the old bearing back in, I have the noise again. When I first re-installed it, I put some synthetic grease in it and it was quieter. Next time I feel like bonding with the...

    Rear Axle bearing change

I sent the bearing/seal combo back to RockAuto (refund) and got the separate bearing and seal - so I live & learn and of course that always costs $$ so I get to pay again for 3 liters of 75W140 plus additive for my experience! I'm sure the diff won't mind.

    Rear ABS sensor

Confirmed! I took the Bad Rockauto sensor and reversed the wires (cut and soldered) and re-installed and it works. So if anyone else has concerns about a new sensor not working, use an ohm meter and compare the new to a working one (as per above) and try reversing the wires. Worked for me .- now...

Looking for a constant 12 volts in the trunk of my 2005 GT

I installed a backup cam in my 07. I used the reverse light to power the camera and monitor but also installed a diode in the power source from the reverse light. The video signal cable which goes from the camera to the monitor had a 3rd wire for power to turn on the monitor when the reverse...

    Sparkplug coil loose

Maybe try some JB Weld and fix it up. There really shouldn't be that much stress on that part just holding the coilpack. I agree with Mxx448 - that didn't just happen.

    Weird off idle stumble/miss

Time to do a parasitic draw test to find the problem. I assume you have the Shaker 500 radio. Apparently they are know as a battery killer after a while when they go bad.

    Rear ABS sensor

The other day I tried to replace my rear axle bearing (a story in in itself). During the process I managed to smack the ABS sensor with a hammer and cracked it. Of course that was enough to damage it and after taking the car out for a run, I got the ABS light. Ordered a replacement from Rock...

    Rear Axle bearing change

Thanks for confirming you had the same problem as I ran into. I thought perhaps I did something wrong. Makes you wonder why they would make something that doesn't work and keep selling it. I'm just glad I didn't f'up the original bearing and seal and could re-use it - at least for a while till I...

    Rear Axle bearing change

I have noticed a TSHH TSHH TSHH sound coming from the rear of the car. Took it to a mechanic who told me he thought it was the diff ($$). Another said it was the brakes. I jacked the back up and took the brake hardware off and re-installed the wheels and ran it up on jackstands. The noise was...

    Waking up my Shelby GT

Not sure if you have changed the plugs or not before - but yours could have the 2 piece plugs and changing them or at least taking them out and putting never sieze on the snorkle is probably a good thing to do. I park mine all winter (6 months) and drive it about 3K in the summer and have...

    Convertible?

My vert has factory heated seats but they shut off automatically after 10 minutes. Dealer can't reprogram for some reason so I added a heated seat kit in mine and now they stay on when I want a warm butt. Why does Ford think they know better? I think I'm smart enough to know when I want the...

    From a S550 to S197

I prefer the retro look of the s197's. I really wish they clone a 67 or 68 with new technology.
