    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I order parts for my car from USA. As i have aluminum flywheel i thought that maybe i can just change a friction plate on it and buy a set of McLeod single disk organic clutch and an OEM slave cylinder. As for OEM clutch, as I understand, the pressure plate is now discontinued, only flywheel and...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

How do you think, McLeod Street Pro pressure plate won't be too hard on my crankshaft's thrust bearing? I was thinking about buying a new friction plate for my aluminum flywheel and a new organic clutch. Or should i buy a new LUK or Sachs flywheel and clutch from rockauto? With my mods i assume...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

My current clutch absolutely is worn out, so i need to buy a new one for sure. May i use an OEM pressure plate and disk with McLeod aluminum flywheel?

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Maybe because my old master cylinder was so worn that after changing it to GT500 master i immediately felt a huge difference, who knows.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I have now Pypes long tubes, Detroit Rocker cams, DIY welded delete plates, JLT CAI and a Brenspeed RON 100 tune. How do you think, will stock clutch work fine with these mods? I was thinking about buying McLeod Street Pro organic clutch because as i understand it should be close to OEM clutch...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I shimmed my slave cylinder because i thought that i will get a better pedal. But in fact it didn't help, only changed engaging point. Then i bought a 2013-2014 GT500 master cylinder and it finally helped, but by the time i've changed it my crankshaft already had too much of end play and the...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I think i had this shim kit: https://www.tickperformance.com/slave-cylinder-shim-kit-3-pack/?srsltid=AfmBOop5-33SKEZv4ixBAzgTL9_kNY6xuU-iAAV-uzZfICGDskWqD3FC I've put two shims under my slave cylinder: one 0.180" and one 0.113". After that my engaging point on the clutch pedal had changed...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Understood. I wonder now, maybe i shouldn’t put any shims at all this time? I did put the shims because i had a problem with my clutch, it didn’t fully disengage. The problem was in the master cylinder, but when i understood it was too late and the damage was done.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Thanks everyone for the input. I’ve finally pulled the trigger on that long block. I hope that next week the shop will be able to swap it into my car. The only thing that scares me now is that i’m still not sure what exactly caused that damage to my thrust bearing. Could it be these shims that...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Yes. The more i think about it, the more it seems to me like the only one right choice for now.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Maybe you are right... I'm still doing my math now, trying to understand what will be best to do for the money. The fastest route will be buying used engine for $2500 for sure.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

My phasers are locked out and disabled in the tune, so i need to take a closer look to the heads, because they could really be clogged, or cam caps could be scored. Thanks for wise good advise!

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Good thought, thanks. Old oil was full of metal, you could clearly see it with the flashlight.

Does someone has any experience with this Eagle stroker kit: https://www.cleggengine.com/ford-3v-4-6l-300-eagle-street-strip-stroker-kit-16414000.html The price seems not that high, and i understand that that comes from the cheap cast crankshaft itself.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

As i see it if i will use a stock bore than i won’t need machine work. The hone in the sleeves looks very good. Even if i will need to rehone it, it doesn’t cost that much here. One of a few advantages living in Ukraine is labour price. But it has also downsides, because you got payed less money...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I've found a used stock crankshaft for $900 here, i think it's not worth it. I saw there are stroker kits out there for these engines. Is it worth it for me to buy it while leaving my car NA in the near future? I saw Eagle stroker kit with cast crankshaft and forged rods and pistons for about...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

So today i went to the shop and the mechanic pulled off the pan. Number five main bearing is scored like i expected. Crankshaft is also scored pretty bad where it contacts with the thrust bearing. Other than that everything seems to be fine. The block itself isn't damaged. So i need a new...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

You think so? I don't know... Maybe that's what i will do eventually. I just thought that if there are oversized main bearings out there, then it will be cheaper for me to polish my crankshaft and replace them. Of course i would replace then all timing components, rockers, lifter and oil pump...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Thanks, i've watched that video. When you push to the crankshaft pulley with a pry bar to push it back inside the block and then push the clutch pedal all the way down you can clearly see that the pulley is coming forward. In the same time you can hear how the crankshaft is touching insides of...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

When i did the manual swap i bought a TR-3650 and used McLeod Aluminum flywheel with McLeod Super Street Pro clutch. I also bought new McLeod TOB and new Ford crankshaft pilot bearing. I bought a used pedal assembly and installed it with used old clutch master cylinder, and it was a big mistake...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

The machinist told me to take off the pan first and then inspect the crankshaft for damage. If it will have any scores then he told me to take it in to his shop for polishing. I've been quoted to the shop on this Wednesday for dropping the pan, but i'm preparing for the worst.

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

I understand that. But I live in Ukraine and you can't just buy any parts you need for these cars here. So if i will need to polish my crankshaft i will take it to the machine shop, no problems with this. But if there are no oversized thrust shims or bearings available for purchase then i will...

    Crankshaft thrust bearings

Hi everybody. Recently i've noticed strange vibration on my clutch pedal, also my engine died a few times when i went from gear to neutral. I went to the shop for a diagnosis and it turned out that my crankshaft has a way too big end play. Looks like at least my thrust bearings/washer are gone...

Auto to manual swap with auto wiring harness

Hi there. I just wanted to say that everything is working good now. Brent from Brenspeed sent me a new tune revision in which he changed torque limits in reverse gear to the same values like in any other gear, and that solved my problem.

Auto to manual swap with auto wiring harness

I have bought AJ1E kit and had installed it in the shop. They had to lower transmission with the engine altogether on the k-member in order to be able to replace both servos. They also had adjusted both bands. Right after that i had cleared KAM with my SCT X4 tuner and went for a test drive...
