I think im going to keep my drag set up with a 26" tire to get maximum gearing. What are you guys buzzing through the traps at? I don't want to be going through at valve float :roflmao:

Based on those gears/sizes 4th should top out at 115 mph @ 6800 rpm

Sounds about right. I have 4.56's with my TH350. I cross the finish in 3rd (1:1) at about 5800rpm at 100mph but I'm on 27" tires.

Matt, did you still have your rev limit set to 6200 on that 116?

My original plan was to run a 28" slick but I figure if I can go through the traps at 6600rpms with a 26" I owuld be better off.

But the way it seems I will be reving to the freakin moon on the 26's....

If I had a built valve train it wouldn't be an issue... but me and my dumbass with this stock long block goal -_- lol

28's it is for street and track then

I ran at 6500 over the traps with the 4.56's and the 26" but that was at 12.20's w/1.58 60'

When going from 4.10's to 4.30's or 4.56's is there anything that has to be added to the 3rd member unit. I thought I saw somewhere that there a "pin of some kind that had to be added. My 4.10's (Ford racing g-4.10-A's) are starting to howl like a bitch and am going to have to replace them sometime soon.

With 4.56's and 28in ET drags im coming through at 6200-6300. The tires must be growing quite a bit on the top. I need to be coming through at 6600-6700 which is 26 in tire territory, but I like the way the 28's hook.

For 4:56 and lower you will need a notched diff pin. Look here

Does anyone have a calculator or seen anything that attempts to simulate or calculate the amount of tire growth with a slick? None of the calculators I've seen can account for growth of a bias-ply and I've found acual RPMs are much lower crossing the stripe than what the calculator tells me they should be from my RPM's.
Also, are you guys getting your rpm at the stripe from datalogging, or are you actually looking at the tach crossing the stripe?
