Just wondering how my stock 5-speed manual will do with power levels north of 550whp and seeing occassional strip duty.

Is it up to the task?

it will be for a while.... Tremec has a 360ft lbs rating on the 3650. At some point you'll likely need to upgrade to a built 3650 or TR6060

whats the 6060 rated at and what other easy manual options are there

IIRC its rated in the 450ftlb range - but thats a guess, Rockland Auto does a upgrade on them to make them much stronger but IDK where that is rated.

no others that I know of.

450ft/lb isnt much either. Hmm, time for some research, Ive just had a few too many slushboxes in the past, I enjoy the manual

mostly mountain and street driving, will probably get into road racing. will probably never be launched at a drag strip, so no slicks.

the stock tranny that is in my car now has seen some where in the neighborhood of 650+ RWTQ and near 700 RWHP. The tranny was in another members car on here that put down a 10.22 run, and several high 10 second passes. It shifts fine, and doesnt show any signs that its on the way out.

With that said, i am ordering up a 6060 swap kit ASAP.

Who ran a 10.22 on the 3650? The fastest manual on the list is a 10.3x. I only know that because I am gunning for it :). (probably never get there)

also a thing to note is that "real" SC's like the centri's will most likely last longer since boost doesn't kick in at 1 rpm.. and is about half the price... and makes better man noise... and ...errrrrr.. never mind

I've always heard that tremec underates what torque their trannys can hold.

Mine seems to be doing fine after a year with the blower and somewhere in the range of 150 passes at the track. It even survived (input shaft and all) a clutch explosion at the track.

I have gone 10.29@136 with a STOCK 3650, Clutch and all...........
That particular trans seen its share of WOT powershifts, WOT missed shifts, and WOT down shifts... I called it seasoned

The 3650 will handle a decent amount of power, but if you start to put an aggressive clutch in front of it the life expectency will be shortened
