Does anyone have any experience with the no name Chinese head units that retail for $150-300 on ebay and Amazon? 14 V6 vert w/Shaker 500 system. Current system is dying a slow and painful (for me) death. Any insights would be appreciated.

IMO once you decide to swap out the factory radio, you don't neccessarily need to research on a vehicle-specific forum other than for fitment and wiring, so don't limit your efforts to just here.

I've had great experiences swapping to inexpensive Andoid based radios in several vehicles. Audiophiles seek perfection, but not everyone's ears (like mine) are that discerning, especially driving with the top down all the time.

My current mustang setup feeds to a moderate amp under the passenger seat and the speakers are not too expensive Cerwin Vega ones. The sound is more than I need and being Android powered lets me install any apps I want and does not limit me to the simplified Android Auto or Car Play interfaces.

I use the TorquePro app to display a variey of CanBus information. #ymmv

New radios brand name or not are far from expensive, I went with the Kenwood DDX9907XR. Android auto was a cool feature as the last Kenwood I had no longer attached to my phone.

My car is equipped factory with Sync.

I added iDatalink Maestro RR, this kept Sync working as factory and added many awesome features.

Best of luck on your audio.
