AJ1E Servo Install Question...

When I installed the AJ1E Servo kit, twice it cut the O-ring when pushing into the case,
the teflon cover was in place so I think I had that correct-
Fortunately the kit came with a few spare o-rings but I'm pretty sure the one in the trans now is also cut,

Each Servo has 2 O-rings and the O-ring closest to the round tip is the one that gets cut when installing.

Anyone else experience the same?

Unfortunately, that's one of the main issues to look out for during installation. Before trying to install again (obviously get more O-rings then) try rounding off the edge of the opening with something larger than the opening or a maybe a reaming tool. Then follow with 400 - 800 -1200 grit wet sanding paper. Then clean up as best you can. The sharp edge on the case needs to be rounded off or you'll continue to cut O-rings. There are a couple of U-tubes that illustrate how to do it and suggestions/tricks to follow when installing the servos. Good luck.

I did this with the trans out of car.
I'm wondering if when the servo spring releases during install if the o-ring retracts to a spot where it can catch on the case - past a channel opening.

Probably need to make sure that when the servo is inserted it never has a chance to retract prior to installing snap ring. The secondary insertion is possibly what cuts the ring,

If I recall correctly there is a channel that each O-ring sits on one side of. The o-ring which gets cut is on the side closest to the band.

I didn't notice any problems with shifting at the track.

You're correct. The servo can only be pushed in once. If it is allowed to retract the O-ring will get cut the second time it's pushed in. To prevent that you might consider using a ratchet strap (to hold the servo in until you get the snap ring in place) and a friend to ensure it doesn't have a chance to back out once pushed in the first time.

Since it's shifting well are you sure you cut the O-ring?

Yeah - I'm 75% sure it's cut as the o-ring was hanging down it the open passage, but still appeared to be in one piece.
This side is the band side so there many not be any fluid pressure at this area of the servo rod..

Well, up to you if you want to take it back out and try again. I'd say drive it for now and only change it out if it starts acting up again (and you have plenty of those O-rings before you start). Of course, most of us (me included) are perfectionists so not likely. Again, your call.
