Atco Event Announcement
We regret to inform you that the 8th annual NITTO TIRE/NMRA Ford Nationals presented by Downs Ford Motorsports originally scheduled for August 8 -10, 2008 at Atco Raceway have been cancelled. The recent rainout coupled with very aggressive Atco Raceway, NMRA and NMCA schedules make it virtually impossible for the NMRA to return to Atco Raceway.

The Atco event will not be finished however, qualifying, round, records, tech and bonus points will be awarded to all registered competitors who attended the event. Any competitor who was not eliminated and does not wish to claim points for this event will be eligible for an $85.00 credit from NMRA as outlined on pages 48 & 49 of the 2008 NMRA Rule Book. Once the points are posted each competitor wishing to receive the credit voucher and decline their points must send a self addressed, stamped envelope along with the competitors name, class, car number, NMRA membership number and social security number to ProMedia Headquarters no later than September 15, 2008. (There is no need to send in your PARTICIPANT TICKET as we have your tech card on file). True Street was completed and no credit vouchers will be extended to this category.

Any bracket competitor at this event will be eligible for a $65.00 credit for Brackets I or II and $25.00 for Bracket III from NMRA. Each competitor wishing to receive the credit voucher for this event must send a self addressed, stamped envelope along with the competitors name, class, car number and social security number to ProMedia Headquarters no later than September 15, 2008. (There is no need to send in your PARTICIPANT TICKET as we have your tech card on file). These vouchers will be honored ant any NMRA event for a period of one year.

If you posses a gray NMRA multi day spectator/crew ticket from the event you are eligible for a partial credit and you may send the physical gray ticket to ProMedia Headquarters along with a self addressed, stamped envelope for a credit voucher. These tickets will also be accepted until September 15, 2008.

If you posses a yellow NMRA Sunday 1-day spectator ticket from the event you are eligible for a partial credit and you may send the physical yellow ticket to ProMedia Headquarters along with a self addressed, stamped envelope for a credit voucher. These tickets will also be accepted until September 15, 2008.

We understand that this situation is unfortunate and places a burden on just about everyone involved. The NMRA staff would like to personally thank all those who attended for their understanding and cooperation.

I just read this on NMRA. They have pissed off alot of racers. I ran true street on Saturday and was going to run bracketIII on Sunday and never got to run due to the rain. I'm going to try and get something back.

Here is my take. What about 1st round losers, we get no refund, and no points either.

I will be honest, guys like SD just got crushed here, he missed 1 race already, now 2 left with ZERO points. That hurts.

I don't give two shits because I am not running for a championship, but If someone were, and they are losing points that they would have earned, or take money back they lose both.

Great example, My bud andy blackmond qualified #1 in OC, got a 90 point bonus, and 1st round bye. If he get a chance to finish the race, he has a shot to make some serious points. Now he get nothing for the trouble, but he gets 85 bucks back, after he spent a 500 on gas for the motor home to get there, took 3 days off work to race, bought food and drinks for the weekend. He lost his ass this weekend in a time when you cannot afford to do that. Just bad, they should run the races on Fri at the next event.

That's no bullshit. Makes the decision to skip Milan a complete disaster. I could have easily skipped Atlanta and used that race as one of my "drops" and not be hurt in the FFW points. Now.....fuck, fuck, fuckity-fuck, fuck, fuck.

According to the powers that be I will be awarded my points up to the second round. Big whooptee-fuckin'-doo. That is NOT what I was looking for out of the Atco race. I could make up some serious ground on the leaders if we could finish the race. I don't know what will happen but I do know that Jim was very adamant about wanting to finish Super Stang in Columbus. He told Steve Wolcott that personally and I was standing right there with him.

I'm out a ton of money too on this deal. My salary for three days ($1250), airplane tickets from Baltimore-Houston-Baltimore ($500), diesel fuel from Bristol to Atco($400), hotel ($370), and my vendor booth money ($350). Granted.....the salary and food money is out of my pocket while the rest is out of my sponsor's checkbook. That does NOT make him happy either.....as I've already heard today. We were just getting into the NMRA and talking about being a sponsor next season.

My only hope is that the NMRA will reconsider their decision based on all the serious flak they are catching on this one. This flak is coming from some of their own diehard supporters and racers. Just a matter of time before the sponsors start ragging on them heavily as well.

I, for one, have no problem going to Columbus and running our eliminations on Friday just to get it done. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. Rench has already stated he was going to Columbus to finish the rounds. We will have to wait and see.....the next week or so is going to be interesting.

This definitely stings a bit. I didn't have as much invested as most but depending on how the Atco race went I was serious about finishing out the series. The car was running great and getting better. Now the motivation to run at Ohio is much less if we are going in with minimal points and virtually no chance of finishing out the series even in the top ten. I'll keep watching , but the lack of commentary from NMRA more than likely means, it is what it is at this point. I, as well as most would be willing to work with them on this. I could even pull off showing up Thursday if they fixed it.
Stil watching for the right thing to come....................
