On the 5r55s, you want to avoid 5-3 shifts, and 4-2 shifts, like the plague. If you know u are going into..'hot rod mode', shut off the OD....then go for it. With 4:10 rear gears, car would be maxed out at 120 mph @ 6 krpm in 4th gear. With a 3.31 rear gear, car is maxed out at 150 mph @ 6 krpm....and 5 krpm @ 125 mph...and 4 krpm @ 100 mph.
