Bent Panhard Bar (stock)

Soooooo, after taking a chunk out of my rim and replacing them. I see that my factory panhard bar is bent and that my tires are shifted to the passenger side in the rear. I know i need a new one (was waiting till I lower my car to get it) but my question is, if need be can I still drive? my brother is using my back up car.

well you see what happend was......
no honestly i was going around a bend to the right around 35-40 mph and a monster pot hole ate my driver side rear and well broke my rim and now i see it bent this too.... but just so I know what are the risks i run by driving while i wait for the new one to come it?


I was looking at the freedom racing one when i ordered my lowering springs. so guess imma go ahead and install the springs as well

Depending on how the far the axle is shifted over, you could have rubbing on the quarter panel. I would get it taken care of ASAP instead of driving around like that. Thats pretty bad.

Unless a land mine blew your wheel up it should not have bent the panhard bar.
No matter which one you get make sure it's an adjustable one.
I'm running the Steeda one and while it is a good solid bar the ease of adjustment on the BMR is superior.
Check if the Panhard Bar Brace is also bent. The stock piece is flimsy.

I didn't want to say anything but it looks like the car went sideways into something. I would have the axle tubes checked for straightness and also the LCA mounting points and LCA's

A pot hole? What was it 2 ft deep? Not to be a dick but that sounds like a story I would of told my dad after getting sideways and tagging a curb... Just saying... Lol

If it is bent enough to where your axle is way out of line then you may be able to take it off, bend it straight(er) and reinstall. This could get you by until your new one arrives. As long as you're within an inch you'll probably be ok for a little while. Your steering wheel may not be centered.

Yeah pothole story is bogus, I've seen that damage before and it only happens one way.
I spun out in the rain 2 years ago and had similar, some rim damage, bent panhard, and looking at yours I'm guessing you also bent an axle flange as well.
I replaced the wheel and bought a steeds panhard and brace. Starting last year I noticed some squeaking in the brake and that was the only sign of the bent axle flange verrry slight. I ended up decided to be safe and got a new takeoff whole axle assembly.

I have never seen any damage like that. That is a pretty nasty one.
As for driving it with the bent pan-hard bar; if it isn't rubbing you could drive it I guess. Personally however, I wouldn't want to risk anything. Wait the day or two for a BMR one to arrive, get it installed correctly, then proceed to drive the car.

+1 on Obviously a lie.. That car's rear end was going sideways and then hit something hard for that damage to happen.
Why even ask if it's okay to drive it that way... The rear axle is shifted way over. It may go down the road but it won't go straight, and it's causing everything else to be misaligned (Driveshaft, control arms, shocks, Springs, etc.).. But sure... Drive it until something else gives...then give us a new story about how it happened... this will be fun.

i could believe the pothole if it was big enough that when the wheel fell into it, the other wheel lost traction, the whole rear slid sideways and the outside wheel hit the side of the pothole.

I was under the impression i hit the curb, when i went back to take a look for where it happened there is a 3 inch deep about 2 feet wide pot hole about a foot from the curb. back end did come out from hydroplaning and i ended up on top of the median thus making me think i hit the curb. I have no reason to lie about this. reason why i asked if i could drive it was to make sure i could get home or get a tow truck. Go ahead and call me a liar, I know what happened and if i new right then and there from my first post i would have said that.
