Car dies after warming up?

So I was supposed to get my car back today from modular depot but this morning as they were test driving it they ran into some issues. As soon as the car warms up (about 20 min) it will shut off. The car will fire right up afterwards but it takes less time to die since the car is warm.

Greg told me the common issue is with the 05's randomly dying is the smart junction box (?) And he tried replacing it with another one in their shop with no success.

Anyone have any ideas? Everything I see online has to do with the car dying and then not cranking over...

Is it happening once it goes closed loop? If so I'd research what gets monitored when the car goes closed loop and start checking there. Maybe crossed o2 sensor wires and stuff like that.

would put money on a bad pcm, since it sits right there in the engine compartment it will heat up causing resistance.

So you are saying the computer failed because of heat? The car does not run any hotter than it did before?

They switched the computer and checked all the grounds and that didn't work...

I don't know why it would start dying now but not when it was being dyno'd? Obviously the car had warmed up plenty of times...

I think someone else should be looking at this vehicle now before more things wind up fucked. It might be something they caused and want you to foot the bill.

mass air flow sensor could do that too. when mine went the car would run and drive fine cold, as soon as it warmed out the MAF was all screwy and the car would cut out.

I'm at a loss for what to do now... I don't know what to do, what to say, or how to handle any of this...

Ill have them check that out.

This beast appears to have a mind of her own. Couple of factors working against you here. Alot of changes made at the same time and a shop that doesnt appear to have a clue what they are doing!! I agree with checking the MAF next however, now that the PCM checked ok. GL

Well they gave it to me running without shutting off in the first place, but it wouldn't run right. Now supposedly the car runs right with the exception of it shutting off...

Then bring it back to them and dont open your wallet for a damn thing until they fix this issue cause chances are they are the cause of it but may want you to foot the bill when they come to you and say "oh you need to purchase this to fix your issue"

I paid up for the alternator but I knew that was going out. Besides that I'm not spending a dime. They are actually supposed to give me a little bit of a refund when this is all said and done...

Refund sounds good for the pain and suffering they have caused you. Did the MAF check out. Was the alternator on the outs before you took it to them or discovered after the fact.

Do the guages cut off as well, like the key is cut off? If you are datalogging the car when it cuts off does it stop the datalog at the same time? I know that Ken is not there anymore and you have had trouble with them through out this whole deal, but unless they have a whole new crew I would think that they will be able to figure this problem out. Sure sounds like an odd problem though and it may take some time to locate it. Good luck and make sure to let us know what the problem ends up being.
BTW, did you ever get those DRF files?

The refund isn't much, just a few hundred after the alternator, but still something. And I had suspected that before hand...

1lowtoy, all the gauges shut off and the car goes through the process where it cycles through everything on the dash board I guess. Like it says check charging system, and all.those other messages I guess. Dave is doing their tuning right now.

When I first asked Greg about the drf file he kinda ignored it... the second time he said he would get them to me a few days later. I haven't heard about them since and I asked again but still nothing.

Yesterday Greg said they are pretty sure they found the problem. They took a lot of my upper engine pieces off trying to find the issue and they found a wire that looked like it was broken inside the insulation. He said they are putting the harness back together and making it look nice because the car SEEMS to be running fine. Supposedly Dave was going to come in today to double check my car is running right on the dyno (?) but it is 5:09 est as I write this and I haven't heard from Greg. He said as long as Dave didn't have any issues on the dyno they would bring my car on Monday....
