i'm not sure why i would...it's aluminum....maybe i don't understand what you're asking about. i don't think there would be enough oxidation on the aluminum to worry about painting that extremely small cut edge

Oh, I honestly thought it was steel. Shows how often I stick magnets to cars. I'm so used to painting bare metal, even aluminum.

actually moisture can get on the cut edge and cause bubbling of the paint ones it seeps under the paint. Prob. not enough to ever worry about, but who knows

I like it. I've been considering something similar. I race my car every weekend and it becomes a hassle to undo the hood pins and raise the hood between rounds. I found a place on ebay the sells steel louvered panels. I was thinking about buying two and installing them on either side of the hood. When I turn the cooling fan on, it should push all the hot air out from under the hood to allow the engine to cool faster. Great idea!

they were selling pairs of 07 gt500 vents a while back on ebay for $160. the vent i used was cut down....it's probably another 10" longer than what is on my car. i paid 80ish. do a search for threads by dusterrt and you'll find his car. i just didn't like his (location only) because i though it was too far to the front. i wanted mine at the rear because it's higher there and heat rises, so that's where i put it. i may go back and buy another one and install the whole thing later on...maybe..

here's duster's
