does anyone know if the driveshaft carrier or support bearing is replaceable? i was getting a loud clunk on the 1-2 shift when driving hard directly below my seat and when i looked at the driveshaft the carrier bearing housing is a little bent and looks like it move forward enough that the housing is making contact with the driveshaft connecting flange. there is a big flange where the driveshaft separates that i cant figure out how it comes off to remove the carrier bearing. also i cant find a part listing for the bearing itself. any help would be appreciated

ps i dont want another f*cking one piece driveshaft so dont even suggest it!!

I looked also I could not find a part number for the bearing. There are plenty of used stock driveshafts for cheap. You might have to go that route and replace the entire thing. I would give you my stock one.

Of course why would they sell a 20 dollar part seperately?? Oh well my uca pops, my seat rattles, my drivshaft clunks. Just add it to the list.

This problem is common with two-piece driveshafts. You just need to grease the splines. As for the bearing, Ford doesn't sell them separately. You'd have to get a used ds or an aftermarket one.

well i loosened the carrier bearing mounting bolts and pushed them as far away from the big flange and it went away. also figured out that my x pipe hanger was resting against the mount so a little bernzo and hammer action got that fixed. now i just need to figure out why my uca clunks and pops all the time. ive loosened it and re-torqued 3 times now trying different ways of loading the suspension and it still does it. i put the stocker back on after i sold my adjustable uca and its made noise ever since then. its enough to drive me crazy chasing noises in these effing cars

Check your rear upper sway bar mounts where they attach to the body. We've had a few cars come in for rear suspension rattles that turned out to be the upper sway bar mounts.

holy crap you were right, it was just loose enough that the bolt was moving up and down and popping. i installed an adjustable uca and then when i gave up on the one piece driveshaft i put the stock uca back on and thats about the time the noise started so i assumed it was the uca! thanks buddy
