Engine running/ Sounding weird, but no CEL

So tonight I was driving home and i did a quick pull down the street and hit the rev limiter then next thing I know the engine sounds kind of like a misfire, but not too bad. It seemed a little down on power but most alarming was the sound it made. It's like it was louder and it would kind of shutter from low rpms.

Is this a safe mode thing or might I have bigger problems?
