Both versions are plastic. The original design "ballons" especially under boost. But they claimed it to never affect anything.

My bad. When sprayer said originally if the intake was the newer version I thought he was talking about the cold air intake not the intake manifold. But ya not sure if this one was the newer or older version. But I did hear about them flexing.
