alright guys I am taking our 07 GT (auto) to the track saturday. I have never raced an auto before.

I plan on upping the front tire pressure to..? 40-45 psi? maybe lower the rear tires a little?

the car even with the traction control off doesnt spin at all (bone stock) I do have some nice ET streets but I dont think they will help?

how do you guys get the best 60fts out of these cars?? hold the brake and bring the rpms up ? or just launch from idle?

also any predictions on et and mph?? Im in phoenix and it will be 100+ degrees, elevation is just over 1000ft. Car is all stock It will have about 1/2 tank and my 200lb fat a$$. I will probabley remove the spare tire. any other tips?

I have a manual so I cant help much with launch rpms, but I would practice some launches on the street first and become familiar with what the breaking or I guess spinning point is. It dont think it would hurt to throw the E/T streets on but if this is your first time at the track I'd probably go bone stock and get used to the track and car.

A quick short burn out just to clean off the tires you really dont need to heat up street radials from what I have read.

I would drop the pressure of the tires to somewhere around 28 maybe? I havent been to the track in anything other than drag radials so I'm not totally sure on that one but see it as a good starting point. I dont know that you will see much or any gain playing with the fronts pressure wise.

go around the water box and back in then pull out dont do a burn out in the water box.

Most of all have fun and learn something!

first let the car cool down for about a good 20-30 minutes , try launching at idle and see how the car reacts, being that its stock and has stock gears youll probably have very lil wheel spin or maybe none at all. i wouldnt recommend putting et streets which it may bog the car down being that its stock . oh and make sure traction control is off ..

awesome thanks guys...............

lol..thats funny..I leave at idle, but my set-up is much different than yours. Try it a few different ways and go with the best..I have a feeling you will bog it if you foot brake it @2,000 rpm's if you have 3:31's in it still..

1000 ft elevation and 100 degrees out I doubt you will make it out of the 14s but as long as you have fun who cares? TC off, use the brake to stall the converter at the line and let it rip. You might get a slight spin but you will get your best 60 foots this way. 1.9s if you are lucky. I have seen a 1.8 with the stock converter on radials but it is tough, the converter is just not good for drag racing.

Well, because some of us tend to think that bench racing is a bit silly. :handjob: Not as bad as "dyno" racing... but still silly.

Just get out there and mash the go pedal, and then tell us what it ran. :beerchug2:

Logical? Speculation on elapsed time or horsepower is not logical. And threads that ask these questions are stupid. Go run the car. Simple.
