I know I have been lurking/posting for a bit now, but I finally decided to do my intro post since it is the weekend. I'm John, and I am a muscle car addict (Hi John).
Anyways, I graduated from University of Memphis with a BBA in MIS back in December of 2010. When I could not find a job in the IT field as I intended, I ended up picking up a job at a local Ford dealership about 10 mins. from my house. Two years later, I went to order a 2013 V6 Performance Package with Recaro seats. However, since this was the beginning of the 2013 orders, and I didn't put an expedite code on mine, it took a long time for that car to come in. About 3 to 4 months before the V6 showed up, the Mustang of my dreams was traded in.
It is 2012 GT Premium, Brembo's, MT-82, Black on Black with heated seats. What I pretty much wanted if I was able to get a GT. What made me pass up the V6 for the GT was for one, it's a V8, and two, even with D-Plan on the V6, I could still get this GT with about 7,000 miles for the same price (actually a little less). As soon as the trade was done, I slapped a demo plate on it, and didn't let anyone touch it. Drove it a few days to make sure nothing was off, had them run the CPO on it, and June of 2012 I was the owner of a 2012 GT
.
The previous owner traded on a 2013 Automatic GT for bracket racing that he eventually put a Aluminator (FI version) in, but never got around finishing that build. He ended up trading it in for a truck with a second kid on the way. Thankfully he had left BMR LCA's and a Steeda Tri-Ax in my car when he traded it (I've replaced the Tri-Ax with a Barton since then).
Since I have owned it, I have put on Borla ATAK axlebacks, SCT iTSX with BAMA Tune (may have this changed over to a local tune), Steeda CAI 101mm, Whiteline UCA (V2), and Whiteline Sway bars. I mainly Autocross and run HPDE's with it. This Thursday, I just received the DSS Carbon Fiber Driveshaft and BMR Braces and Loops to be put on this weekend.
In late August, I left sales and I am now working in IT (YAY!) at Flextronics. We have people who work on Apple's, Lenovo's, Nike Fuel Bands, Netgear 4G Hotspot devices (Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc. all use the same 4G device), AXIS Cameras, and the Ford Sync Touch systems. Our Texas site manufactures the Moto X's. This is where I found out about the forum. One of our production techs (can't remember his name atm) in the Lenovo sector has about 3 S197 Mustangs with built motors in them, and he told me this site was a very valuable source for information and part deals.
Here are a couple of recent pictures of my Mustang:
I also am one of the people who had issues with the first Whiteline UCA, and had taken video of it during an Autocross:
Oh, and I got to drive one of these bad babies:
Future mods during this "offseason" is a T2R differential (factory one is toast right now), watts link, lowered suspension setup, track set of wheels/tires, and maybe finish off with the RTR splitters. Other power adders maybe a year or two down the road.
