What is a safe product to use on removing tar(in my case gum) from the unpainted plastic trim that comes on the 2010 plus stangs. I keep running crap over and always ends up on the unpainted trim/rear bumper. I went out and bought/used turtle wax's lable and adhesive/tar/bug remover. It said it was safe for all material's including plastic(which is why i chose it). I used it on a tiny spot and it got the gum off but left a light white residue behind that wouldn't wash off.....so Im afraid to use it again. I had some mothers back to black and applied that and it restored the area back to black like it should. But for the future......I need some tips......this black trim is a pain in the ass and scuffs and scratches way to damn easy, and I don't want to have little white blotches all over the trim from using harmful products.

Please tell me you didn't use Goof Off... that shit eats plastic trim.
No I didn't lol. I used turtle wax label and sticker remover which is also bug and tar remover. It didnt eat the the plastic trim at all....just left a white wax like residue behind. It said on the can, safe for windows, paints and plastic. The mother's back to black cleaned it off butt I want to avoid causing any damage down the road, you can't scrub it to hard, it will scratch the shit out of it. Im just curious what others use to clean the tim up if tar ect gets on it.
