On an older thread I talked about putting a BOSS 302 oil cooler on a Mustang GT with a stock radiator (non track pack). Well I did it today. Like I mentioned in an older thread, I got the automatic and track pack isn't available so want to basically build my own track pack. Biggest concern is will there be too much heat transfer and thermo load on a stock radiator. Granted its 36 degrees here tonight in NJ when I did my test drives with it. My GT runs about 198 cording to my Dash Hawk. Tonight driving the car hard or light it was 192-196 tonight with the BOSS oil cooler on. So in the cooler temps there is no extra thermo load that a stock GT radiator couldn't handle. Now next summer could be a different story and may need a radiator or fan upgrade but wont know till then. Each time I felt the radiator hoes it was its standard warm-hot to the touch and the oil cooling lines felt cool the whole time. Unfortunately I did not get the premium package so no track apps to tell me the oil temp if there was a difference. Also my Dash Hawk isn't able to read all the sensors such as oil temperature.

It was a simple install. Took me 2.5 hours most of the time screwing around. Hardest part was getting the new oil filter bolt on so it wouldn't cross thread, that did take several trys. Biggest issue was the fluid costs. BOSS 302 oil cooler was like 130 dollars. But had 18 dollars in Motor Craft Gold coolant from dealership. 50 dollars in synthetic Pennzoil, 18 for Ford Racing oil filter, and had to buy a 14mm hex head socket for 12 dollars. So an extra 98 dollars in expenses to install the oil cooler.

Did you take any pics along the way? It sounds like a good mod for someone who tracks their car or has an oil cooled turbo. It also looks like you were able to reduce coolant temps with it as a side effect.

I installed mine with the blower. Not quite sure if it works or not. I just wanted every possible advantage of cooling I could.
