Hey guys, I have an 07 Shelby Gt with close to 50k miles and Ive been debating about going with a more street friendly ride combination. I love how the car looks and handles, but with these struts, the ride is downright bone jarrring at times, especially since the roads in NJ are for the most part not smooth. this is my dd, so Im looking for a more comfort compliant ride, but handles just as well. Any suggestions?

Honestly, you can't go wrong with the Koni STR.t and with the current sale its hard to pass up.

he's right, they are worth every penny. my ride is just as good as factory with them set to "soft" or turn them to firm for handling where you feel every bump.

i honestly never would have thought they would be as good as they are.

Str.t's aren't adjustable. I have a set waiting here to put in next week. Car is my DD also so I didn't need the adjustable koni's. At least not yet. I agree they're hard to pass up with the current sale.

I like the way my str.t shocks and struts ride. I'm on steeda ultralights, which is a little more drop then yours.

I'd recommend Koni Sports if you really like to drive the car, hustle it, etc.... if you are looking for better dampers to cruise around on, that ride better than what you have (a LOT better than what you have), and can control your springs, then probably STR.T's which with the sale are $340 for the set (normally $405).

Now are new mounts, such as the gt500 strut mounts needed? Again, this is a DD, so I don't go auto x'ing or anything.

You need GT500 mounts if you buy the 05-10 struts, if you buy the 11+ struts you can use the factory mounts ... but it's about a 50/50 shot as to whether they will actually survive the swap, and once you're into the 11+ struts you're stuck buying expensive CC plates or the Steeda HD mounts (also expensive).

No, this person has an '07. He needs no new mounts. Might want them but doesn't need them to install STR.T's or Sports. Both are made direct fit for his car.

Good catch, I couldn't see his sig on tapatalk. Been spending too much time in the 5.0 section apparently! I'd still recommend upgrading to a better mount while you have it apart. The GT500/FRPPs are only like $150 or so IIRC.

GT500's aren't any better (they don't fix the part that fails) than the standard mounts. If he wants to upgrade there are much better ways.

I really wish I could sell the koni str's here locally soon so I can order the sports instead. Should have just went for the sports when I ordered the str's. hopefully someone bites off my Craigslist ad here soon

Why the switch?

I run J&M plates. No complaints here, they were able to put my car in perfect alignment after the Steeda Ultralight springs (1.5" drop)

They are a good plate for someone who doesn't want to run camber bolts, but doesn't need caster. Also they are alot stronger then the factory plastic, ball bearing, one-time use crap.

If you want to spend $350-400 on CC plates, sure there are. For me, the issue was that the stock strut mounts literally fell apart in my hands and spewed bearings all over the place. The GT500 mounts are at least capable of holding themselves in one piece.

I haven't even installed the str's. I'm going to be ordering a bunch of suspension stuff Tuesday and putting it all in at once. If I'm going to spend all that money on suspension, I just wish I would have had the adjustability in the koni's for when/if I ever hit the track again, or just want to take the car on some fun driving through the canyon roads. If nobody buys the str's by the time my other stuff is ordered and delivered, I'm going to just stick with the str's. I'm sure ill be happy either way.
