Installed my magnaflow catback

mine the passenger side fit perfect, just the drivers side had to be cut. the x pipe to me looked the same as the factory one, i was blaming the catback, but i never tried eather one with the stock stuff, we did it all at once. im pleased with it, sounds great. it only took a few seconds to cut it down, had to take 2 inches off drivers side catback pipe, i should have split the difference and cut both 1 inch, but i dident want to unbolt the x pipe...lol..no bolt on ever fits exactly right, i wouldent feel like i was working on a mustang if it did....lol..
i spent the most time trying to get the dern tail pipes to line up perfectly in the cutouts, dern driver side, i had to bend the muffler hanger to get it down off the top of the cutout. got it almost perfect, drove it got it hot and now its off, i got to put it back on the lift and try to get it even again.

Jared, I also ran the xpipe with the stock cat back first. And it did push my tips out 1-2" farther as well. Not a huge deal, but just a thought =) Other than that, top notch products..

Mine fit with the stock axle back.. was maybe 1/4 inch further but could be we didnt have the x and mid slid all the way together. Now with the Magna flow delets it was almost 2" out... so most the issues i see is with after market axle backs ..

Did you have someone else help you with the install? If not it's very difficult to keep the tips in the stock location and they will shift backwards. That's because you need someone at the rear of the car to push the catback forward while the other person tightens the clamps where the catback meets the midpipe. If not you're not completely sliding the catback over the reduced part of the X-pipe and it will cause the catback to stay further back. It's a simple adjustment and can be done at any time even after the parts have all been installed.

Just to make everyone aware not only ourselves but another customer who replied just before this post experienced the same thing and has come to the conclusion that it's the Magnaflow catback that's too long not our X-pipe.

In regards to the fitment if you look at the rear section of both pipes they're the same length.

For you to have one side of the catback longer than the other it's most likely that you didn't adjust them to be the same length. Just loosen the bolts on the clamps that mate the catback to the X-pipe. Have someone go behind the car and push the catback by the tips toward the front of the car until both tips are where you want them. Then tighten the clamps while the person helping you holds the tips from moving back again.
That should fix the one side longer than the other issue.

Hmmmm......there is no need to have anyone help with the install. 1 person can easily do it by themselves. The pipes butt up against each other, no slip fit. I ensured they were firmly against each other when I tightened the band clamps. It is clear in the pics I posted that the tips stuck out 2" further than before the x-pipe install with the ends butted up and the band clamps tight.

I had to cut the stock cat back 2" in order for it to fit correctly.

You have a pic posted that compares the rear of the stock H and your X. Show a pic of the whole section showing the X and H together. You may see that your X is longer than the stock H. I should have done this before my install for comparison.

Magnaflow's O/R X-pipe hasn't been reported to have these issues.

Maybe I got the odd-ball unit. Who knows.

I installed another one today and was only about 1/8 inc back. we marked the tips... and FYI Jared.. ur X pipe with magna flow muff deletes are LOUD as THE F***

My magnaflow catback was butted up tight to the off road x pipe and my tips still stuck out 2 inches or so. I cut the catback, slid it against the x-pipe and now its fine. I didnt have this problem with the magnaflow catback with the stock h-pipe. It cant be the catback.

yeah did that it was just simply too long, you could have backed it into the shop wall it wont going in any further...lol...

yeah did that it was just simply too long, you could have backed it into the shop wall it wont going in any further...lol...

mine to... when the two were butted together my muffler was barely in the hangers and looked terrible.

Well I got my magnaflow competition 3" cat back installed with my lethal performance offroad xpipe..

If you are doing this in your garage its a bit tricky. I had to put the car on jackstands, lower the diff, unbolt the bottom of the shock and lower it as far as I could. The driver side came out with some help, the passenger side, I had to pull off the panhard bar brace, and pull the spring out.

Once the old was out the new went right in. However, the lethal xpipe seems to be about 2" to long. I had to trim a bit off the catback to get everything to line up.

After all that, it simply sounds amazing. It has the perfect tone while cruising and sounds orgasmic at WOT.
