Yesterday we went to Frank Ewald's Lapping day at Mosport. My brother came along to help refresh my memory on how to go fast around Mosport.

For the first part of the day he rode with me but then ran on his own for one session. The objective was for him to set the baseline target for me to work toward for the rest of the season.

We did the same thing last year and he ran a 1:42 and I got down to a 1:48.

This season I switched to Nitto NT01s and Carbotech pads. He set a pretty high standard for me to meet as you will see by the time at the end of the video.

Sweet video Sleeper, looks like your brother is a bit of a hotshoe. :)

Do you guys know what a good lap time at Mosport is on a bike vs. a car?

I'll be taking my GT up to Texas World Speedway later this year for the first time. I've done 12 trackdays there on my bike, with a fastest lap of 1:59.xx which could squeak me into the advanced group. I've been told anything under 2:00 is fast on a car there... so it seems like the lap time/skill levels for cars vs. bikes are similar at TWS and was just wondering what it's like at Mosport.

Hey Colin!

Nice video - but what's with that secondary camera? Looks like its aimed at the roof. =)

Anyway, when you say he pulled 1:42 last year, was that also combined best segments or was that best single lap? At any rate, I did see a single lap of 1:40, which is still a nice improvement over last year. Nice to see those NT01s paying off such dividends. I'm excited to see what they'll do this year for me at Road America.

Is there any way to make these videos smooth? The time lapse is hard to watch.

What about recording the separate videos and combining them afterwards in a video editing software? Then just let the computer crank for a few hours and produce a nice flowing video. I think many software options allow for a picture in picture option.

Sorry about the secondary camera - I realized after getting home that I had knocked it. I've also decided not to bother with it anymore to simplify life.

The 1:42 last year was a single lap. His best sum of best segments was 1:40.8.

I've been trying to figure out whu this year they are jumpy but last year they were OK with the same hardware. It may have something to do with upgrading the software and BIOS but so far I've not figured it out.

I did manage to put some foam over the mike to improve the sound so progress is being made :)

I've also realized that my car is so quiet with the stock exhause that all you hear is the SC whine and wind noise from the open driver's side window.

Here you go for Motorcycle Lap times at Mosport

http://www.trackpedia.com/wiki/Mosport_International_Raceway#Typical_Lap_Times

This site has times and info for a huge number of tracks.

PS - it was because of the bikes getting airborne that a few years ago they shaved down the hump at the end of the main straight.
