LCAs and more rear noise?

I put my BMR lcas in last night. Did the job on ramps and aside from getting 130ft/lbs with minimal room and me being a scrawny weakling it was an easy job. I took the car for a drive and I have zero wheel hop now and the suspension feels tighter, especially when going around a bumpy corner.

The bad....I hear gear whine and a ''scraping'' noise when moving. It's not enough to bother me especially cause I only hear it when I turn off the radio. I was wondering if anyone else has this and if there's anything I can do about it. The extra NVH is worth it if I have to deal with it, the improvement was amazing. I Dynamatted my trunk a while back.

BMR makes nice shit too.....now flame away:asshat:

I don't see how lca's will cause gear whine. What else did you mess around with? Is it constant noise or only when shifting?

If it's only a little noise I'm going to venture and say it's because of the poly bushing, assuming it has them. Mine did the exact same thing (J&M extreme lca).

The poly bushings are harder than stock, so they transfer more noise.

I always had a real faint gear whine (damn 3.73s) but it's more noticeable after the lca install. I guess the harder bushings just transfer more noise. And I did lube them, the BMRs have zercs built in.....

the "scraping" part doesn't sound right. The poly or solid ends will transfer more noise, but "scraping" indicates something is rubbing on something else--especially if it does it constantly while moving.

So for example, if its doing it at 5 mph on a flat road where your suspension travel is 0, then there is a problem somewhere. On the other hand, if this "scraping" is only sometimes, while you have suspension travel, then its probably just the harder bushings you are not used to.

This.
Mine only does it over speed bumps, scared me when I first heard it.

Just about any aftermarket arm will absolutely increase differential/road noise within the cabin. Of course, the poly or similar material bushings will provide a quieter noise compared to spherial/rode-end style ends.

As for the scraping, that sounds odd. Did you ensure that the "offset" on the LCA are on the inside, closest to the differential housing?

Is it a scraping, or a whooshing? You will hear some noise from the rear end as more solid suspension. Parts are added.

Offset is to the inside. I don't mind the noise, I only hear it when the radio is off. The trade off is well worth it as it feels like a different car. The lcas are really nice pieces Kelly, it's a shame they're hidden under the car. :D
You'll definitely be hearing from me when I'm ready to finish off my suspension.......

I have the J&M LCAs and have the differential noise...only when I let off the gas. No scraping noises...but it sure seems louder as the weather has gotten cccccolder.

LCA introduced a whirring noise in my cabin. Par for the course.

Make sure the bushings are well lubricated with synthetic grease. This could be the scraping sound.
