Here is my soon to be gone setup. MTX Thunderform enclosure with Infinity Reference REF1262W dual 4ohm voice coil subwoofer and a nice grill. It has real nice sound and decent thump but my infinity amp just clicks into protection mode constanly, even with no inputs or speaker hooked up to it so the sub and enclosure is up for sale here if anyone is interested.

I ordered a Kenwood XR-5S amp, a JL Audio 12W3V3 2ohm sub, and a Zenclosures box & grill to go in the rear passenger corner. The XR-5S has too much power for the Infinity sub and the MTX enclosure is not big enough for the JL...

Could you possibly measure the distance left between the sub box and the rear of the car? I'm trying to figure out if there is enough room to still mount my nitrous bottles.

My new sub setup: Kenwood XR-5S amp, JL Audio 12W3V3 2 ohm Subwoofer, Xenclosures box with grill upgrade. Takes up more space than the MTX but hits a lot harder!

Here is my setup. It's nice, clean, hidden, and doesn't take much room. It can be removed by just two 7/16th bolts and there is no rattle. It is a sealed box, 1 10inch, but the front face is removable and I have a blank that I can cut out for different sub setups. I built this to make it easy to remove for racing. And it works for me.

Mine's very similar to Shane's. It was a custom installed by Paul @ Ultimate Electronics. They're out of business now, but Paul is still around somewhere. Fantastic fabricator...

All joking aside. I'm in the market for a nice amp to power (2) Sony explode 12" subwoofers in a sealed box. Any recommendations?

After seeing this thread, it has inspired me to do a full write up over car audio. Especially since I'm somewhat new to the site, I guess I'll contribute.

P.S. In no way will a capacitor benefit you in a daily car audio application. It will strain your alternator and can kill it in the long run.

Smart people know that they are just band-aids that dont last.

Not even a band-aid. They don't have any positive effects at all. They just got hype many years ago and now it's just the thing to do.

12" re, fosgate 400.4 bridged, roughly 2.3 cuft, tuned to 35 hz.

Have to remove the trans latch, spare tire, and all the junk in the hole to get it in and out.

Planning on more amp in the near future, along with doing something about those terrible door subs.

Otherwise it sounds incredible, my ears find their limits well before the system does. Wattage is cheaper than HP for the time being.

Rest of the system is just an oldish pioneer prestige(? He'll its been 2 weeks since I've even been in the car and the deck has got to be 8 years old by now) hu, and some older infinity 6x8s.

Late on the bandwagon

Wow... There are some seriously nice installs here.
In hindsight, I should probably have gone with a duel 10"or 12"setup, rather than the single-sub way.

With the rear-feats upright, it's nicely hidden away.

Even though it's not pumping as it probably could... I am rather happy with the extra fill I'm getting the stockers lacked.

I went a different route as I didn't want to take up my trunk and wanted it hidden...
