There was also a recent article done by Rick Anderson of Anderson Ford where... http://www.mustang50magazine.com/techarticles/m5lp_0904_s197_ford_mustang_headers/index.html
Yeah, and the Macs win. Kooks and American Racing are smoking crack if they think their headers are worth $1200. They're a bunch of steel pipes... they wouldn't be worth $1200 if they came with a full-time hooker. Mac headers fit just as well, perform fine, and aren't priced by some marketing retard.

People just wanna pimp up what they have to make themselves feel better, or even worse, make their shop some money.

Kooks all the way. Best fit / finish/ and power hands down. Have installed numerous LT's on customers cars and kooks are hands down the only way to go. There was also a recent article done by Rick Anderson of Anderson Ford where he did a dyno shootout of BBK,JBA,AR,MAC,and Kooks. Check it out!

UMMMM hate to break it to you but AR (ARH) WASNT tested in that group.....most likely they wouldve blow them away.

Dude brands like Mac,BBK,and Pypes are SOOOO GHETTO. I dont care how cheap they are your still getting ripped off because you are still buying junk. People just want to pimp up Mac headers to make themselves feel better because they bought in inferior product and they know it. Know w ha im sayin Dogg?

MAC didn't win. Made top peak because they were 1 3/4 not 1 5/8 primaries like the rest of the group. The Kooks made the best overall gain and were the cleanest and easiest install. I've installed numerous sets of MACS and I don't know if you've ever put on a set of Kooks for comparison. The MACS are the worst fit and finish of all headers installed and sale margin on the Kooks is not that great so the shop doesn't make anymore money selling Kooks say over JBAs or MACS. And MACS prochamber to connect to the LT's is not that cheap either. I agree that the prices on LT's is ridiculous but what parts aren't for s197's. It's like these cars were secretly built by Porsche. I mean $700.00 for a alum drive shaft are you serious??

Seriously an aluminum drive shaft is about 700 for these cars......you could buy a fox body, aluminum driveshaft is about 200.

I was kind of figureing that I was going to get those answeres...I really wasnt wanting to spend that much on headers but if there really is that big of a difference it might be worth it. I was thinking about the new pypes long tubes... But I keep leaning towards AR...

IMO Kooks or ARH it is if you're going to buy LT's but Kooks fit the best, have a more emissions friendly cat location, and they probably make more power than ARH.

I went with the economy method. People are going to say you get what you pay for, but I have no issues with my set up. Yeah I could have got some expensive tuned headers and maybe got 5 more HP, but I just can see spending the money some of these companies ask for for some bent, coated steel tubes and some welding. I spent $520 shipped for my ceramic coated LT's and H-pipe. I had no fitment issues and am happy with the performance gains. Install was a PITA but what headers aren't? Here is a link to Stage 3 and the PaceSetter's that I got.

http://www.stage3motorsports.com/pr...ter_Long_Tube_Headers_H_Pipe_134_Primary.html

I upgraded the combo package to include the ceramic coating because they aren't stainless. They are 1 3/4" primaries and have slip fit connections instead of the ball and flange connections. But like I said earlier they are a great fit and bolted right up without too much trouble. Pacesetters are not the most popular in the Mustang community, but I have used them on other applications with good success and no issues. If you don't want to spend the big bucks, this might be an option for you. I wouldn't mind seeing more guys run these, I probably wouldn't get flamed as much for my Pacesetters.

you guys can't argue to everyone to buy Kooks headers when not everyone wants to spend all that money... Other companies headers arn't garbage, they just don't compare to the exact same level of quality and thats why the price isn't the same.

now your thinking. ever wonder why Ford tested all brands of headers and went with ARH for the CJ? they couldve saved a buck but they didnt want to lose races.
