love bug season

for the southern car clan, in love bug season, so far best thing i found, is dryer sheets ,,,rinse car,,dip dryer sheet into water,,rub over bugs,,and wwhoosh,,,bugs are falling off,,no damage to paint,,then rinse with clean soap and water as usual...later,,ryd..also good for MC winshields,..dont ask me how i know!!

+1. def the best tip i ever tried...also heard u could use a pair of panty hose over a sponge.
but i never wanted to explain to the wife why there were bugs on her pantyhose!LOL

Never tried that. I will this next time around.

I use alittle elbow grease and a mesh sponge. But, this is the time where I will wax the front of my car every time I wash.

Thanks for the tip. I happen to have about a 3 year supply of dryer sheets since I kept forgetting that I had already bought some and then spotting them on sale. I'll definitely be trying this.

I'll have to give this idea a try.
But I normally carry around a Pinnacle bug and tar remover sponge and a drying towel. All you need is a bit of warm water to soak the sponge in and it takes all the bugs off with great ease. I like it on long trips because I can just use the gas station bathroom to warm it up and then wipe all the bugs off the front bumper and windshield and continue on. Also this sponge seems harsh when you first get it but once warmed up with warm water it gets soft enough to where it wont ever damage the paint.
I can say that with confidence as it worked on my buddy's black BMW without leaving any swirls.

I'll wet the bugs down with warm water. Let them sit for about 10 minutes in the shade, then use my pressure washer on them. They come right off. It helps if you've got a good coat of wax on there to start with and wash them off every day.

Being that the bugs insides are so acidic, you need to attack them right away. When you're in southern heat, those bug guts will bake on the surface and eat away at your clearcoat, causing etching. When washed away early enough, they typically won't cause a problem. If you get some very minor etching it can sometimes be polished and leveled off. I've seen some pretty neglected bug etching marks before, it's not a pretty site.

I use these from advance....been working well for years. I wet the bugs down and let them soak to soften up and use soapy water then scrub, repeat if necessary. This year the love bugs sucked down in central florida...I was washing the front end of my car and my wifes suv every night after work for close to 3 weeks and as mentioned the heat helped none.

Turtle wax bug and tar remover, spray it on, let it sit for a few seconds and they come right off! Love that stuff, actually just did my front bumper last night.
