I've polished quite a few sets of 3V cam covers. The first set I done for fun and TRIED to seal them with ZoopSeal. I called Zoop and they said that it will work.
I got the covers to a perfect chrome like finish and was hoping the Zoop wouldn't dull the finish. I took the first cover and began the first step of cleaning them with the cleaning solution. With in SECONDS I knew it was a huge mistake! :kma:
The covers almost instantly DULLED!!!!!!! I was IRATE!!!!! I've sold most of them locally and told the people just to keep polishing them or seal them with their favorite paint was or sealant.

This last set I've applied three coats of "OptiSeal" with a 5 hr "baking" in the Az sun between coats. No dulling could be seen and should be good for a pretty long time.

Anyone use any other methods for this problem that lasts?

The Opti-Seal is probably one of the best products to use.

Do you have a picture of them?

Good to know!

Not of these particular ones.

I've never took the time to take pics of a "finished" product.

ALMOST finished pics..............sorry about the quality. The shine was screwing with the cheap camera. :roflmao::roflmao:

Those look great. I'm guessing you worked the "bolt areas" a little bit more? Very nice work!
Yup! These were well worn used covers. I can never leave things stock, so I ground the edges smooth. I know ya can't really see that when installed, except for the very front, but that little attention to detail adds up if you do things like on the whole engine.

Sounds like me. The little attention to details is what sets a car apart. Maybe you can't see that detail but when you add in everything together you've just built a badass ride. It's all in the details! :boobies:

Cquartz would be what I recommend. Don't waste your time on a sealant. The new polymere resin protectants would do those covers wonders.

Great job, I feel you pain. I polished a set awhile back. Lots of hard work. I sold them here and suggested the new owner clear coat to taste.
