Doesnt mean it was cheap to design ..Or that there were other factors besides power in mind.


These $600 coatings for us mortals would be a lot cheaper for the oems to spec on millions of parts that are coming from a chinese supplier that the manufacturer is strangling to death.

Cost was driving factor. Shit gets killed for costing a nickel more per car.

We're doing an A to B comparison, there's a budget

Some nuts stuff gets done in the name of efficiency that costs X...

If a coating were cheaper, (which it surely would be,) than a lot of things, that would get done instead. But it doesn't happen. So either the OEM's don't know, or it's not a factor.

If you could actually get 1/10 or god forbid 5/10 in the 1/4, that's a massive change that would surely show up in fuel economy figures.
