Ok, it's been established there are issues with the MT-82, does anyone know if anyone has come up with a beefed up rebuild kit for it or just arebuild kit in general?

Trade you car for a 2012! lol Mine is flawless after 2k miles with little/no gear whine and shifts feel firm. I have no interest in an aftermarket shifter/bracket/fluid change.

Oh, did I mention I drove a T-5 before this? ; )

I have read that, thanks though. I have some faith in Ford engineers. It's their sales department that is to blame IMO! Although, they did manage to give us a 400+ hp car for under 30K...

If it aint broken, I'm not going to fix it this time...

I would take anything coming from Allfordmustang with a grain of salt.

You really think that's necessary, 3.73 is my though for a good combination

MT82 is geared a lot more aggressively than a TR6060 is. You're looking at a 4.10 with the TR6060 or even a 4.30 to run equivelant gearing to a MT82 with 3.73

yeah, but i definately listen to Joe Heck Racing. I believe they are the first ones to find the restriction in the clutch line and come up with the clutch line with no restrictions.

The gear ratios on the MT82 truly are awesome. Ford got the concept right but missed the boat in the quality department. If an aftermarket company would come out with a beefed up MT82 they would sell everyone they could produce. Maybe someday they will.

Mine has too. The only thing with mine is the 1st thru 4th gear whine it has had since day one. Hasn't gotten any worse or any better with nearly 20K miles and I beat on it just like you did yours.

Try this spreadsheet for figuring out MT82 to T56 conversions with gear ratios.

The way I see it, the closest you can get to an MT82 with 3.31 is the 2.97 T56 with 4.10s. 3.73's would be tolerable.

I love the performance aspect of the MT82 but the quality of it is making me hold off for a few years from buying a DS or a ST shifter.
