mine handeled really well in the snow but unfortunately the City tosses a LOT of salt on the roads and it eats the cars.

First year having my car tucked away. Id rather take city transit than drive my car through this.

Hence, why my Stang is parked this year. We spray a chemical on the roads which eats car parts like nobodys business. I think it's worse than salt, which we have as well. And if that weren't enough, they also gravel the roads too. :argh:

I run Firestone Winterforce tires on 17" mustang wheels for the winter on all four corners. 200lbs of sand in the trunk. Easy on the throttle and the brakes and I get around just fine.

drove like a block today in the snow and turned around and went home. No traction, sliding everywhere, not fun. Grant it, i have Sumotomo HTZ3's high performance summer tires, and im on the east coast of NC where it never snows. There is about 2-3 inches on the ground right now, and no salt or snow plows in sight!

I drive mine every day - 45 miles one way commute. I have 165,000 miles on it now and have driven it through some big snowstorms.

No extra weight in the car and on the stock Pirelli Pzero's.

that's some really good wear on those tires :lol2:

We use that too. It's application is for temps between 30-33 though. It has a very limited working range. It's main job is a de-icer. They claim it's safe enough to drink, lol. After seeing what it does to chrome and aluminum, I think I'll pass. :)

LOL - well they have done well for me! Actually I am on my third set of the Pirellis, and do seem to get good mileage out of them. Every time I need to replace tires I come across a good deal on the stock Pirellis so have stuck with them.

I daily drive the 10 and the previous 2 Mustangs were dailies as well. Here in N. Texas we don't get a lot of snow, nothing compared to what we got in Nebraska when I was a kid. Just gotta take it easy and not hit the throttle or brakes hard. Be prepared in advance for what ever is coming.

GRAVEL sucks, I live at the end of a Cul De Sac for 8 years now and two years ago they decided to start dropping gravel, in a Cul De Sac that sees like 8 cars daily, I told them not to, but the old man in the plow truck told me too bad, now I think he drops extra for spite, that shit stays until mid summer in a Cul De Sac, it BLOWS.....

Contact your local road department and file a complaint. If that does not work then move up the line. These people work for Elected Officials. If you end up complaining to an Elected Official they will get in trouble. I work for County government and this happens all of the time. Also check to see if they are responsible to street sweep. Most places are required to sweep to collect the crap before it can wash down the storm drains.

This is my first mustang and first rwd vehicle. Its been fine so far this winter just don't hot rod it like everyone else says and you'll do fine. The nice thing is you always know what going to happen..its going to over steer so just account for it. This is with ~60lbs in the trunk and stock pzero's.

Also, traction control and LSD makes a huge difference driving my girlfriends v6 pony in the snow is way worse than my gt.

****WARNING to all of you who put ballast in the trunk******
I pulled the 200lbs of of sand out of my trunk and checked the floor cover and the weight of the sand was destroying the cover. I removed it and cut a piece of 3/4" plywood to fit the floor area and support the sand. Then I installed a Husky rubber trunk liner on top and reinstalled the sand. Put the original floor liner up on a shelf until spring.

I got a second set of stock rims and put a set of Blizzaks on them. I never put more wieght in the back than a full tank of gas. (tho I do fill up if snow is in the forcast)

I wouldn't drive the length of my driveway on summer (non all season) tires in the snow. I had trouble getting my miata on slicks to go 10ft into the garage one time after an early snow.

I'm also more comfortable w/ RWD/LSD that I am with FWD in the snow.
