I was really leaning towards building up a 370ci motor but I have finally decided what I am going to do. I really want to have a street legal car and I really want to have a 3V. It's just exciting to see what the 3V is capable of.

So I've decided to keep my 3V but I'm going to make some changes. I will be working with Adam for all the building and Jim Bell for a custom 2.8H set-up with some one off parts. I am getting some new pistons and redoing my motor to an 11:1 compression. I'll have to bite the bullet and kiss pump gas goodbye, but Jim is pretty confident we may see 1000 hp on a TS 3V...

Planning on mixing your own gas for driving on the street? Won't get very far on 91 octane + 11:1 unless you wedge the bypass valve open on the street...

Nope - that's why I said "kiss pump gas goodbye". It will be a 'street legal' car but won't see too many long cruises...lol

Yep - I'll be running C16 24-7 with that compression. But I think it's worth the 9% hp increase. 9% doesn't sound like much, but when you are talking 900+ - it makes a pretty significant difference and the only way I think you'll breach 1000 on the 3V with a TS. + the blower will like it...:leghump:

Duh:samuri: Missed that - sorry...

Its no fun if you can't do long cruises... I'd think 9-10% was conservative with that much of a jump, but say good buy to lots of plugs and O2 sensors while you are at it. Maybe you should get an ethanol sponsorship?

That would be nice(ethanol)..lol

I don't have the down streams anyway and I don't think it will effect the upstream but I'm sure you're right about the plugs. But, I'm already changing them once a month now so it's nothing new...

I'll still drive it to the track to lay the smack down and bar hop it on weekends. In the end, even with the gas, I'll still have the thrill of the 3V and be a ton less out of pocket then I would if I built up a new 370ci. As I was getting all the numbers together - it was going to be way to pricey to do it. All I have to pay for on the new set-up will be pistons and machine/balancing work. Jim is giving me the blower set-up and I've already got everything I need so it's the right choice for me. The only thing up in the air after the power will be if I need a mini tub or not to use it.

How much rwhp do you plan on having for your 'streetable' tune?

The only purpose of a 'street tune' now is to run pump gas. With an 11:1 compression, I'll have to run high octane all the time so I won't have a 'street' tune. I'll just have one tune for street and strip and I'm hoping to be right around 1010 rwhp...:onfire:

Jim Bell already has an article lined up for a 1000+ HP street legal TS 3V so I'm assuming him and adam will do their magic and make it work...lol

Last I talked to Adam, we were talking about the new big motor, so he doesn't even know yet where Im going.:trout:

I just made this decision with Jim Bell today.

That's going to be a handful in traffic to say the least :)

Yep - a crying shame when you can't even respond to a stock civic when he goats you. No stabbing the pedal on the street in this thing...

But, at the track, and for that couple second burst on the freeway...HEAVEN!:leghump:

shit - Ken is the rich one. I swear that guy has an escort business or something on the side...:naughty: cause I don't know how a security company brings in the dollars he has.

Nope, money is the reason I'm not doing the new engine build. All I'm going to pay for is the new pistons, new compression set-up, new cage, and maybe a mini tub if I need it. That and adam's labor (for which he has always been VERY good to me) is it.

I'm just a poor white boy...

You are addicted. You have a problem. First step is admitting you have one. You need a support group. "Hi, I am Chevykiller and I am addicted to horsepower."

I thought 10.30's for a street car was damn good! Plus you can drive it where-ever right now. All I know is when I did something similar to my 1967 mustang years ago--I regretted it because I could only drive it at the track and very short trips on the street. That is one of the things I really like about my current mustang--10 sec time slips with a/c and a 1000 watt stereo! Can't get much better then that!

On the other hand, I am sure 91 pump gas will be as expensive as c16 is---just give it a couple more years......
