It's the gas you're thinking about. The "no-lift" shifting means you keep the gas pedal to the floor while shifting. So yeah you still need to push in the clutch.

It sure does, there is no torque on the input shaft while you're shifting.
Kind of like shifting with your engine off.



Note the lack of effort shifting.
