Over winter I had Bob Kurgan install a FB Performance 4STB-E (built 4R70W) transmission and retune the car. As luck would have it when I picked up the car I was heading out of the country on business so this Saturday was my first chance to test it out. I only got 4 runs in because of how busy the track was and because I had to leave to coach my son’s baseball team but the best run was the 3rd one, 11.84 @ 115. This was with a 1.6x 60". I know there is a lot more left in the car but ran out of time to test it. If the weather is ok the Friday I will be at Route 66 for their test & tune and hope to drop another .2 seconds.

I have worked with a couple of other shops in the past but for one reason or another was not satisfied with the work they did. I am very happy with the work Bob and his team did and highly recommend them. I plan on bringing the car back to him for the next big change. Also, working with Fred and Mike from FB Performance was great. When I first started planning to change the trans I was going to do the work myself. They took the time to answer all my questions and helped me select a trans that I am sure will handle everything I can throw at it.

Thanks guys

It is faster, I only got 4 runs in. The first run a took it easy and ran 12.0. The second run I was loaded for bear and left the shifter in second after the burn-out. :thud:The 3rd run with the best one. Right before my final run the lane I was in had antifreeze dumped on it. They took an hour to clean it off and then when it is my turn to go it starts to drizzle shutting down the track. Once they start us up again I spin really bad off the line and ran 11.9. I wanted to get back in line but had to leave for the day. The car will run 11.6 or better soon.

Nice to finally see you get her out Jamie!

Are you still running those 17s or did you get the 15s you were talking about??

+1 on Kurgan... I need to wrap up my garage project so I can install the CAI, smaller pulley and GT500 pumps (along with your DS, Jamie as it is still sitting in the garage), and let Bob do his thing again!

This time was with the M & H's on 17". If I go on Friday I will try out the 15". I wish I had time to get a couple more runs in but it was Jr Drags day and a bunch of other stuff.

Next time you head to Byron let me know, if my sons baseball game is late I will meet you there.

Good to see you getting some decent times down with that. I walked under a few times while at Bobs shop getting my car tuned and picking up parts.

Also good to see Bob posting on the forum. Should be getting a re-tune here soon once I throw a set of cams in my engine.

Someday. I coach my sons baseball team so racing plays second fiddle.
