Okay, as many of you know, we were waiting for the S197 Shootout to be over to decide if we were going to do a points series for street cars.

Well, the shootout is over and it’s time for another poll.

Here are the details. Let me know what you think...

Heads-up Points Series

Based on 6 races.

Driver’s pay a onetime registration fee for the season, plus the venue on arrival on race day. Charges cover, trophies and a drivers banquet at the end of the season.

Registration Fee - $50 per vehicle, per season. (non-refundable)

Points............................Milestone
90..................................Class Winner
40..................................Class 1st Runner Up
20..................................Class 2nd Runner Up
15..................................Class 3rd Runner Up
10..................................Tech-In

Max Points per Event = 100

Max Points per Season = 600

At the end of the season there will be a driver’s banquet and season trophies.

Venue

Piggyback T&T or other event to eliminate high costs. Driver’s pay the track directly, not us.

Mid-Atlantic tracks only. Mason Dixon, MIR, Cecile, etc

Classes

Any Mod combo, any tires, must be street driven w/full interior, current registration and insurance (no gutted cars).

Must Meet Venue's Posted Safety Regulations & Pass Venue Tech Inspection

NAsty Dozen
12 fastest NA Cars (determined each race day)

If we have enough to expand, we expand to a Quick 16/24/32 format, but still keep the quick 12 as a recognized group of the 12 fastest drivers with an ND designation. All the rest will have an NA designation.

Wild Bunch
12 fastest Power Adder Cars (determined each race day)

If we have enough to expand, we expand to a Quick 16/24/32 format, but still keep the quick 12 as a recognized group of the 12 fastest drivers with an WB designation. All the rest will have a PA designation.

All washouts can bracket for points.

IMHO the cars are still too new and you do not have enough really hardcore racers to support a 6 race series. There are many other racing series that are open to many other makes and models that are having trouble drawing cars.

Can't beat a good track rental! Maybe an S197 vs the World kinda event

I think you are right.

We talked about it alot amoung our team, and pretty much felt the same way. Because we talked publicly about it on some boards, I figured it would be a good idea to get some feedback.

If we get more positive feedback on the rentals, then we will follow that route just to keep the fun going.

Sounds gr8 :thumb2:

im in for rentals for sure!

Might be the way to go...

But, there still can be a 'title' rather than just a rental

I think what you guys are trying to do is great.
But I think to get more involved you need to find
sponsers to put money in. It's hard for people to
come that far for trophies. I am not talking big purse.

Maybe because it should be in the regional forums. It is irrelevant to 90% of the country.

as soon as money is on the table, it becomes a professional race. From there, all NHRA race class rules apply and most of the street cars won't pass tech. That is what was driving the trophy idea... just trying to keep street cars in the proccess.

eh, I don't think it matters where it is as far as if people are going to respond or not. I think the market might be flooded on the east cost.

Vinny, I am dying to see your car in person. That's a bad ass ride bro.

Some of the local tracks do a gamblers run every week. They put up $1500 to $2500 to split between the top 3 drivers. They get about $200+ cars per race, but there is every car under the sun rather than just Mustangs.
