Nice thread as I am debating going catless myself. Looking for some more tone without the hassle of installing headers.

RedMoses, great tone with that cam you have.....sounds awesome.

I know a guy with a 04 Termi who is running O/R X and SLP LM1's, and honestly it sounds awful. It is ungodly loud, but there is really no tone to the exhaust. I run an O/R H with FRPP stingers and it really is the best of both worlds in regards to how loud it is, and the exhaust note. Just my 2 cents

I had a upr o/r x pipe and slp loud mouth on my 02 gt and it sounded like shit plus it was loud as hell. Harleys with race pipes didnt have shit against my old 2v lol. I would suggest to stay away from the loud mouth axle back but thats just my 2cents

Yup thats what I am saying with my bbk lts, bbk or/x and my magnaflows the car is slightly louder than a factory exhaust. I have the quietest magnaflows made.

I have a pypes off road H and flowmaster axle back...I HATE it...midpipe is coming off...it has this weird drone/trumpet noise at 2500rpm..it goes from quiet to ungodly loud, then back to quiet again...Im gonna put my midpipe back on and deal without the few ponies to keep my sanity and not hate my car

i think that is all flowmasters fault i have never herd a set without a drone

that is why i have stuck with stock mufflers and recently changed to FRPP GTA'S i never have a drone

I had an o/r xpipe on my GT with flowmasters. I was told it would not sound good with the flowmasters and that was correct. A little too raspy. I could definately tell the difference seat of the pants though. I changed to longtubes and o/r hpipe and still raspy. Must be the flowmasters. If you are interested the pypes x pipe is for sale. PM me if interested.

Chambered mufflers like Flowmasters tend to get raspy with Off Road mid pipes, some install resonators to mellow out the sound and it works out very well, i would try that before changing your set up, i love the way Flows sounds, as far as im concerened they should come with them from the factory.

Do you have any friends with S197's you could try swapping mufflers on to see if it sounds better/less drone with the flows? Personally, I had the FRPP stingers installed before my O/R H, and I definatly had cabin drone but the off road pipes quieted it down (or I just got used to it lol). I haven't heard many good things or from many people who like the flowmasters so maybe thats the problem, but its your car and what sounds great to one individual may sound like junk to another.

Here is a question for the sake of not starting another thread.

My car is TOO loud. I have JBA long tubes, into a fabricated midpipe (Catless) that connects the header to my magnaflow catback kit.

The midpipe and catback are both 3', what is the best way to quiet this thing down without too much restriction? My original plan was to put on the o/r x-pipe and a set of dynomax bullets...Any better ideas?

Ive seen some of the supertrapp setups but I heard they sound awful.

Stock exahust system on our cars is rated for 600HP per Kenne Bell.

Not sure how they came up with that rating, but I do have to agree that these cars came with a damn good exhaust system from the factory. Mandrel bent pipes, so not crimped bends, true dual exhaust with cross over, full 2 1/2" diameter, etc. Heck, even the cast iron manifolds are shaped more like "mini-mini" headers than the log manifolds of old.

The first time I crawled under my 05 (ok, jacked it up so I could look under it!), I came to few conclusions:
1) This is a very good exhaust for a factory exhaust.
2) It is going to cost real money to make a significant difference in power.
3) Damn I love this car!

Anyone running a prochamber? After reviewing every "MAC axleback" clip on youtube, my wife decided she liked that sound the best. I've heard you can add cats if you choose.

I know this is about the H/X pipes but I had my stingers installed on the dyno and did a pull and did not gain a thing..so the stock exhaust must be pretty good!

if you dont need the cats, i dont see any reason for keeping them.

OK. I'll bite. How about to help keep the air clean, so that the lovely state of South Carolina never HAS to have the emmision regulations that places like Atlanta has. Is a few HP and a "Raspy" sound worth it? Not in my book. But, that's MHO.

Flame on!

Also, if you do go "no Cats", keep them, as you never know where the next owner might be from, and "no Cats" could be a deal breaker when it's time for you to sell it...
