Now catless, hate the exhaust note.

On my new motor I've been pleased with everything but the sound.
its raspy. Way raspy, so much so I just hate how the sound "trumpets".

The setup is
Magnaflow Competition Catback
Boss302 midpipe (had to cork the sidepipes though)
Jegs cat deletes
factory manifolds
11.5:1 boss302 style motor.

Recommendations on how to get back to a nice sound?

-install cats
-change to GT500 mufflers or other
-add some other muffler in center

What else can I try, or does anyone have examples of a catless coyote that sounds good?

I'll get some video today of my setup today. I really do miss how it used to sound with cats and the sidepipes open.

Now I have a different setup but with my Lt's and o/r x, my Magnaflow comp catback sounded like complete ass man. Raspy, and obnoxious. I actually put my stock over the axle pipes back on and got a nice axle back. Combined with the blower, the old comp catback setup I had sounded like a trumpet flame thrower.

IF you have an X, that's part of the problem, Xs sound too raspy. You can try putting some M-80s where the stock resonators go, that should "tune" it towards the deeper/bassier sound range.

Ditch the Boss H pipe and get an ORX with some GT500 mufflers. This setup sounds great with or without resonators. Best sounding 5.0 exhaust hands down.....
